The hubby forgot to put the dog food up when he went to bed last night. Since the dog sleeps with us and the bowl was empty this morning, the cats definitely ate it. :(

Mona's BG was 137 at testing time. I fed her her normal LC food and tested her at +1 when I left for work. It was already down to 124 an hour after eating her regular food, so obviously the carbs from the kibble were being processed out faster than the LC food was making her rise! I suppose that's a good "test" of her pancreas again, but I don't like that it keeps having to work like this!

We're going to try a totally new feeding routine for the dog to try to keep this from happening. He's always been free-fed though, so it's requiring yet another change to our overall routines, just when we though OTJ would be saving us some trouble. Alas, with pets that's never how it goes, is it?

Our drooler is fed twice daily. At am and pm preshots and in the opposite end of the house. Luckily none of my sugars want anything to do with that nasty stuff, however one civie loves it but will puke everytime.

Every other dog we've ever had was fed meals, but we learned when we got this guy that Dobermans are usually healthier when free-fed because they're an odd type of dog who will not binge eat (except for the odd individual). He "eats to live" rather than "lives to eat" which freaked us out originally because we couldn't get used to that concept with a dog! But, now he'll have to learn to eat what's put down, I guess, since him being hungry if he doesn't eat when the food is offered is a smaller evil than Mona's pancreas failing due to getting into forbidden food!

Oh, and the great news is that the Dobie in question is also HEALTHY! We got the bloodwork results back from the vet today and he is not in liver failure!! In fact, after 2 weeks of treatment and a food change for him, the vet reported that his values look "gorgeous." Two weeks ago he told us he couldn't even give a prognosis because they couldn't find a cause for his jaundice and unresponsive liver, but his body and our care somehow got him through it. Such a relief!
