Hey - we made it: FURDAY! Today Is vet day - annual senior checkups, shots. Pokes here there and everywhere, Blood Work, the works for Mannie and the civvies. All accompanied by way too many howls and whines... Not too sure that we will do BW on Mannie, and he just had a full panel done in mid-March. Oh boy - I sure hope I don't hear the words "dental" on any of them.... We shall have such an adventure this AM.

We are off to a nice start this AM for Mannie - a 165. Sure looks like we had a nice blue surf last night. YAY! It was a good PM cycle for him - we were able to maintained a flat line, and control the drop - fed Mannie small amounts of HC to keep him steady. Successful I think...

What a snuggle kitty this AM - rubs, and purrs, and general "I feel great". Breffis #1 and #2 eaten, LB done (I think - who knows with 3 cats in it), interior has been patrolled and secured. At the moment he is busy with the catnip toy pile. It must have been one heck of a party last night for Heart. There a few leftovers tucked in Mannie's bed - a few grilled shrimp and a pile of turkey kabobs - must have been good eats. He kept mumbling something about Tess's Jimmy Choos.... hmm, and party on!

We just went on Monday. I hated it! Oh my....you poor thing.
Our Beans are so much bigger than we are and they manhandle us
and we have no choice but to go along with the program.

Good Morning, Michelle, hmmmm, I don't know your civvies. I have 2 and can't imagine taking all 3 cats at once in the car. :roll:
Boy, these guys are really gonna have some stories to tell at parties. Checkers goes next week for bloodwork, and general health check.

Good luck with today's trip; will be waiting to hear the horror stories of car trip. I can hear all the howling and yowling now. :lol:

Hey thanks guys! It should go OK, I've got this packing them all up and getting them out of the house down to a science... Secrecy is the key, and the "load" is in the garage one at a time, out of sight of the others, so they remain clueless until they are in the carrier. Load in car, off to gather the next one. Love the "cat choir" on the trip there. :lol: :lol: FUN! hmmmm well maybe not. I dread the bill..... and yes on the stress issue - i hope he handles it well - he usually does - the others, no way.

I remember all to well the trips to the vets.....3 cats and 2 droolers all by myself! You kind of have to have a system to be able to do it alone, but once you got that, you are all set, huh! I always took them right after I got my income tax refund! Looks like Mannie had a good night last night..numbers not to bad this morning.

Hey, Mannie, I see it's your turn to take that Gosh-aweful car ride to the vettiebean! Man oh man, don't worry, don't stress, you know what that will do to your nummers and then how da beans act when dem nummers go haywire. It will be a-ok, buddy, really...do like Raja suggested...think about the party last night and da party tonight! I'm tinking about cha and sending you those good vettie vines that my bean mentioned before....but I honestly don't know what's so good about the vettiebean........Spot

Hi Deb. a system is the key - been doing this for so long that it is on auto pilot. This cat first, get her by surprise and loaded before she sends out the alarm to the others. She screeches - must be cat talk that translates to VET!!! This will be fun. I hope. :shock:

in the meantime shopping to do, back for a spot check, and then vet. can't wait to see Mannie's before and after BG....

Good luck at the vet with your whole crew. What so funny is that they are always anxious to get back in the carrier after they're done when they fought getting in it at home. :mrgreen:

Good luck, Michelle! I bring all 3 of mine to the vet at the same time for their annual check-ups, too. It just seems easier. I hope Mannie will not need a dental, nor any of the others. Sending good vet vines to you guys today. :-D

THE VET! The only thing I don't like about the vet is the ride in that big metal rolling thing. Once I get there, though, everyone is so nice and talks sweet and pets me. I go to my happy place (an FD party, of course) and don't think about what they're doing to me. We're sure gonna party tonight, at TWO different places! This is so cool, it's like a roving party! Good luck at the vet, buddy, and I'll see you soon!!

To all my LL buddies! cat(2)_steam Stupid vet.... now I smell funny :shock: . there were such weird smells there - I kept trying to figure out what they were - really bad, ya know sniffin and open mouth breathing, and my bean laughed at my attempts, which made me really mad. AND THEN: that thing went up my well you know :evil: and they said my temp was normal... and my ears and my eyes all that well duh! of course they are!! AND THEN they kept messin' with my mouth and toothies - phew: dodged a bullet and don't need a dental, at least not for a while. :? huh? and what does that mean??? AND THEN: they picked me up :? and took me too this place that smelled even more, and said something about needed some pee pee :shock: :shock: :shock: and used this awful evil looking device to get it :oops: and they knew better to try for the "other stuff"... AND THEN cat(2)_steam cat(2)_steam cat(2)_steam they shaved my belly and rear - fur mats - I just happen to like my fur mats that you very much, but noooooooooooooooo my bean said they had to go. Now I look really weird and stuff :evil: :evil: AND THEN they got these really awful looking huge things that kinda looked like my juice shooters :shock: :shock: and poked me and gave me stuff that supposed to keep me safe and healthy - cat(2)_steam nothing wrong with me thank you very much! PPPFFFHHHTTTTTTT on them. Silly vetty beans. I so need a party - so I am off to Moonie's and Shad-O's and please don't laugh at my bare belly. :oops: :oops: See you guys SOON!! pssssst: I suppose that I should day that my vet loved me and gave me hugs and pets and said I was such a good boy. well duh! :-D ~~ Mannie

Hi all - well we survived. Two hours later , mucho $$$$$$$, and 3 senior wellness packages, and vaccines. The civvies both need dentals :sad: which I did expect. Mannie was borderline - she wanted me to try a product called Maxiguard gel, which is supposed to, clinically proven and all that, to remove plaque. I wonder how FD friendly it is - and will post an question on Health. So if it is OK for him then we will give it a shot, see if it works, before we clean his toothies - AGAIN. He has always had fur matt issues, his coat is extremely long.... so instead of tormenting him to death to get these mats out, I had them shave his rear and a portion of his belly - now mat free. He was a really good guy - short of the sniffs and open mouth routines that was endless. :lol: :lol: They all love him there - he takes it all in stride, even let them get the urine they needed via catheter. yeah - I know - but such an issue for me to try and collect it at home - he just does not tolerate that well here, privacy ya know ( silly kitty) ... anyways: We're home, in one piece, and will see how sleepy the vaccines make him - if at all.

Oh Mannie, I feel for you, man! But at least you passed your tests. If you have vet-smell, we'll party it out tonight. My mamabean thinks I have urinary infection because I'm peeing and drinking more than usual and it smells funny (and my numbers didn't come down today), so I got Clavamox to take before I go to the vettybean on Monday. Haven't had it yet, but I saw it go into the fridge. If I sneak out to the party before I have to take it, I won't get any until tomorrow. Anyway, I'll see you later.

Hi Michelle, Glad to hear that all went OK today. Our Alice had mats and had to be shaved periodically, poor thing. But she didn't mind anything because she had a home, the only thing that really mattered to her. Thanks for your concern for Stu. He's acting normally, so I hope I didn't do anything rash by calling the vet!

Hi Pat - what a day - 1.5 hours at the vet. :YMSIGH: oh well - they are good people and they really like Mannie. He hates being there, hates the ride, but once they pick him up he's like putty in their hands... what cat purrs when held by a vet??? and yeah - dentals - oh great!

Hi Ronnie - i know on the numbers - and so much for vet stress - no change. it is pink, still is - but that i believe is from his low yesterday and the day before.

Hi Ella - poor guy - they really shaved his whole undersides - his fur there is a good 3" long and there are times when the mats are awful. I usually can get them out, but he just gets so stressed. So figured why not have the vet shave some - had to laugh when they did his whole under carriage.... and his butt.... :o :lol: :lol: !! and I do hope all is well with Stu - better be sure than sorry later.

I'm glad to hear that the vet visit wasn't a complete disaster.... as for the stinkus pinkus... well, tomorrow is another day!

Make sure to note the vet visit including the behind trim on your SS - ok, you don't need to talk about the trim... :lol:

Hi Helene - yes indeed tomorrow is another day... i am glad my annual trek there is done, short of the dentals for the other two. and will do re: the notation of the vet visit. shesshhhh - didn't even think of it.

+2 300 - down 83 points, gave MC - in retrospect I probably should have done HC - oh well - all in an effort to slow the drop. I will get a +3 and see where we are.

Mannie's vet report had me giggling, Tray had awful flashbacks and shuddered when I read it out loud to him.

hey mannie ohmygod_smile oh bummer for you today and the gang! I hate going to the vets! my bean tried to fool me, she bought this really kewl looking
thing and it had a really soft inside so I was laying and stretching in it...And then it happened :shock: I heard this zip and off we went. She kept telling me we were going somewhere
but she forgot to mention the vet!!! but no worries mannie :-D I got her back, I peed and pooped on the way there AND on the way home :-D she swore she would never take me

Hi Everyone! guess the boy did survive with his dignity intact... it was trying... for me it was a hoot to watch him patrol that room, sniff everything, and then the look, with the what is that smell frozen on his face. Yes it was good to get a good report - all seems well. I did forget to mention that they did do a senior blood panel - not too sure how extensive that is, guess we shall see. and an urinalysis.

anyways - hope his take on the vet trip was worth the read... thanks to all for visiting him and his summation!

shaved belly exposed to the last rays of sun as we speak...

AND 187 at +3 - :shock: :shock: a 120 point drop. I fed him HC, will check him again at +4. my payback for taking him to the vet. :lol:

Wow what an exciting day you've all had. I admire you Michelle taking 3 kitties to the vet at once. When I did that a couple of months ago Malachi our youngest and the bull moose of the group. My 17 pound woosypussy freaked out so badly that he tore a hole in the mesh of the kitty carrier and almost choked himself trying to force his head through the hole. They finally gave me a dog crate to put him in so he wouldn't kill himself. Tori was just mortified. You could see her just roll her eyes up to the Heavens. I vowed I will never take him back. He needs a dental though but I'm going to buy a metal carrier before I take him out again.

I;m glad everything went well for you. Mannie Tori told me to tell you that things really aren't that bad at the vets. You get used to it and they really are trying to help you. She's putting on her party dress though and she's out the door. Any excuse for a party.

Hi Barb! Oh my on Malachi... the things they will do when they are freaked out. I finally broke down a few months ago and bought some sturdy carriers to take them in - before all I had were those cardboard ones they hand out. More secure I hope. He usually does OK, but likes to move to release all the anxiety - at least with the new one he can. He seemed happier in it.

I read Mannie Tori's comment - he feels better now. :-D and is even more excited that she is coming to the party. These kitties have a better social life than us humans.

Here are the ingredients in MaxiGuard -- they look OK (i.e., no sugar): Active Ingredient(s): Deionized water, zinc gluconate, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), methylcellulose, taurine, methylparaben, propylparaben, F.D.&C. blue no. 1. May also contain zinc sulfate.

Thanks Sienne - looks like it will be OK - I think this is what Ann uses for Tess. (??). In any event - I hope this will help him - it not we are looking at yet another dental in a few months, which in the long run means he will be a twice a year cat. aiyee! Sure would like to avoid all that goes with that - $$, not to mention the stress etc it puts on Mannie. Then again - dental care is so impt. oh boy.

100 @ +5, still dropping, gave more HC, and hope he evens out soon - this bean is way too tired....
 
93 @ +6, still dropping, but I think bottoming out - well I hope so. I fed more HC, and will leave food out. DH will make sure he eats at +7. I HOPE i am not so tired that I miss yet another alarm @ +8...
