The tumor is growing I'm trying to find a vet that is willing to try Injecting Chemo into the Tumor. I found info about it on a vet web site But so far no one will do it. They want to do Biopsy, Xrays & more testing! It's all about the "MONEY"
for these guys They know the cat is going to die so they want to get as much money as they can before that happens! I am beyond frustrated!!

My vet took a needle biopsy. He said it's cancer & all the signs point to Squamous cell oral cancer. She is dying, the tumor is growing faster.

The info I sent to the oncologist said injecting Carboplatin ( chemo ) mixed in purified sesame oil directly into the tumor is inexpensive & effective in shrinking the tumor.
I also communicated with a vet in N.Y. that after surgery , is implanting beads of Carboplatin around the edges & he is very happy that it's working to kill any remaining cancer cells. He even said it's a shame more vets aren't using it.

I told the oncologist I want to at least try the least invasive method to see if it will shrink the tumor. She had her assistant call me & said Dr is afraid this method may "Hurt" the cat! She's dying from this tumor!! & she's worried about hurting her??

She wants to do a biopsy & maybe surgery to remove her lower jaw! Then Radiation. Peggy Sue would need a feeding tube for 2 weeks (if she survived all that) The info I gathered stated surgery & radiation have an average survival of 51 days!

I'm sure the dr knows this. I am convinced it's not about helping our animals It's about how much money they can get before the cat dies!

I'm willing to take a chance that this method might shrink the tumor & buy her more time.

Say no to the lower jaw removal, you don't want it done. Neko had a bump on her lower jaw that the dental vet thought was an osteocarcinoma and he had me "prepared" for the worst. He told me cats don't do well with the jaw removal surgery. Thankfully Neko's growth was benign, an acro bony growth. Vet was 99% sure it was cancer, which is why we had a biopsy done after the bump was removed. I was a wreck for a week until the biopsy results came back. Neko lived another 1.5 years after that, her passing had nothing to do with the growth.
 
I am soooo Frustrated! I was so hopeful they would agree to try the injection.
I have no intention of putting my kitty thru all that suffering. They even said they would not know if the cancer had already spread!

It's making me so upset to not be able to help her.
 
When the vet said "all signs point to squamous cell oral cancer", was that the result of testing, or just thinking? I know of one other member here (also an acrocat), who got the squamous cell cancer diagnosis, until the tests came back negative. That is why vets need to be cautious.

He did a needle biopsy & said it was cancer. A biopsy under sedation would determine what type of cancer, but everything I've read says it's squamous cell cancer. What difference does it make at this point?

Her tumor is growing fast.I just want to take a chance & try the injection.
