Racci had a green day yesterday and almost all green the day before. All 'p's present and she's doing great. Her only problem is her infection that's back again. Tomorrow I have to call the vet for more prescriptions again & see if she thinks it will heal without shaving. If not, I'll have to bring her in again. Poor Racci! She hates going there so much & cries the whole trip. I guess I'll see tomorrow.
I've got a ton of chores to do so will be on and off today. See you later.
Good health and healing wishes to those kitties and their people who need them!
Healing Vines coming your way for poor Racci! What a trooper though with those gorgeous green numbers!! I hope you get to the, umm, well, the bottom of her problem soon!
Hi Melanie, nice cycle for Racci, but sorry about her infection. Sending some healing vines and hope she doesn't need to be shaved again. It's so traumatic for them with the Vetty visits, most, I shouldn't include all. Hope you get your chores done. Mine are sitting here not getting done! :YMSIGH:
So sorry Racci's bottom isn't any better. NICE numbers in spite of her discomfort. I hope she feels better SOON!
(From yesterday) About the clippers - ours have guards that you attach to give you whatever length you want. Our shortest is 1/4", but they make them to go as close as 1/8". You can get a closer shave without a guard, but then you risk cutting the skin. 1/8" is pretty close! I've used them on Doug and Joseph and not cut either of them. Maybe you could find 'an unsuspecting victim' ...uhm... I mean 'a volunteer' to be your guinea pig?!
Maybe 1/8 would work ok. I wonder if my son would let me use his head. He likes to be bald anyway. He has this beautiful thick wavy hair but he always cuts it like a crew cut or baldie or whatever they call that look. He cuts Junior's hair super short for the summer also.
I think at this point poor Racci is so used to having a sore bottom that she doesn't think about it any more unless it's really bad. It's just starting so it's not too bad yet. I see 2 sores now. I have to get her meds tomorrow. It's so upsetting! I am glad she's not stressed over it though and her bg is normal.
I'm going nuts here. I dropped my mouse and it came apart and the top flew off and I can't find it! I took a broom handle under the couch and found a load of Junior's toys and some of Racci's toys but no mouse top. I even pulled the couch out to see if it was by the wall. I can't move it all the way without help though. I've looked all over the room. It's like it disappeared! I'm now using it without a top! :? I have no idea what happened to it.
Somehow I just lost an entire post to you! That's so aggravating when that happens.
Thanks, I'm really hoping she doesn't have to go in and I can just get some prescriptions called in or go get them without her so I don't have to put her through that stress of the ride and visit. She cries the entire trip & is so pitiful. I have to bring her asthma rescue meds just in case since she works herself us so much. It's so pitiful. Poor Racci. Is Maggie that bad too?
I got some chores done but not all of them. I still need to get that laundry done and the bathrooms but at least I got some of the house done & the vacuuming and got Racci mostly brushed out. I have to do her in stages when she has patience again.
What wonderful greens. Poor Racci! Good vetty vines coming your way. I hope it goes by without much stress for you or Racci. Have a great night Melanie!!
I think Racci needs about a month on the ab's solid without interruption and then maybe it will really knock it out of her system. This is just crazy. It comes back every few months. This is the longest she's gone without it since it started and it's only been about 2-3 months!
Thanks for the vines. Racci needs them. I hope they go away quickly this time once she has her meds.
RACCI SENDING YOU HEALING GREEN VINES FOR TOTAL HEALING !!
Hope the meds bring her relief..Moonie hates to go to vet too--I even hate it..
But her meds are so important!
But look at her numbers!! They are GREAT...Have a good night! Hugs & love from us!
Hi Melanie, just saw your post. I hope so, too, that the Vet can just call in the prescriptions Racci needs and save on the traumatic Vetty visit. You asked about Maggie with the Vet visit. She doesn't cry but is so scared she just literally tries to make herself small burying her head in the crook of my arm or the Vet Tech. She's so scared at first but eventually calms down. Hope it all works out in favor of a prescription you can pick up. Sending some good vines for Racci. Have a good night.
Thanks Roni! She really is doing great with her bg's but tonight she's going to have me up all night again. She had a 65 PMPS! Yeek! I don't think I ever shot her that low before. I hope I don't oversleep too late after being up most of the night. I want to call the vet early so I can get that medicine in her. Since I caught it right away, I'm hoing it clears up fast. You're right about how important the medicine is! Catching it right away and starting that medicine fast will be the difference between her suffering with it and just being uncomfortable. I'll let you know what happens.
You're lucky she doesn't cry in the car. That has to be the worst. Poor Maggie, hiding her head. Racci usually calms down a little too once we're there for a little while. She's worked herself up so badly by then tho!
I think this is the lowest I've shot Racci on a PMPS. I'd much rather she did this in the am. I'll have to try to do a +2 tonight. She just ate and is cuddled up napping on the big loveseat chair where I can watch her.
She'll go up for at least 2 hours but start going down by +3. Sometimes she has her nadir by 3.5 and sometimes at 6 but she's gone down at night a couple of times now at the pmps. This is something new. I hope she's not starting a new pattern! At any rate it looks like I'll be up most of the night. ohmygod_smile
I napped a little longer than I intended to but it worked out ok since she only went to 56. I'll have to check her in an hour tho and see how much good the meal and snacks did and whether the 3.5 was her nadir or not tonight.
I'm around if you need anything with the rest of this cycle, k?
Also, I've been keeping ont hinking about those sores of Racci's. Since you said they come up repeatedly every few months. Have you thought about herpes as an option?
Thanks. I'm going to test Racci again now. I hope she went up. I'm starting to get really tired.
I have thought about that but I wonder why the vet wouldn/t have said so if it was? I'll have to investigate the symptoms of herpes and look at the sores. I'm sure they'll have a photo online. How do cats get that? I have no ideaa why she has this except that she has always had a compromised immune system.
I'm going to go test her now and if I have to stay up still and my eyes will focus, I'll look herpes in cats up. Thanks!
Good call on re-testing. I'll watch for the update.
About the feline herpes: As I understand it, it's normally a disease that manifests in cats via respiratory symptoms and/or eye-related symptoms (here's one link I looked at). But I was wondering whether, just as it does in humans, the virus can also affect the genital/anal area in cats? I know Sienne does a lot of veterinary/medical reading - maybe she has some info on this? Or you could ask your vet? There must be a blood test to determine the presence of such a virus, and to determine whether it is the "common" feline herpes virus or a variation that affects genitals/anal area. (Are the sores always located only around her anus? Has she ever had mouth sores? Could you maybe get a picture? And just because I didn't see anything on her profile about this: Was she ever tested for FIV? Not that I know enough about that to suspect a correlation between FIV and anal sores, but I just wondered if she'd been tested.)
Just a quick note since I'm calling the vet now and giving Racci meds, etc. Thanks for the link. I don't think that applies unless they get a rash from it with sores. I'll ask the vet though. She only gets it around the anus. Her mom was tested and she's an indoor cat so was no need to test since mom was negative. The only time she had a sore on her lip was when her tooth was knocked into it from playing too hard with Calli. She does and always has had runny eyes though and as a baby had black boogers always blocking her nose. She outgrew the nasal problems but still periodically has leaky eyes.
