Hi. I searched and found the bp monitor Kyle uses. She got it from Amazon. It’s only $49. CONTECO8A-VET Digital monitor with neonatal cuff. She’s has compared it to her vet’s Doppler and within 10 points.

Awesome! It looks like that is what I ordered from Amazon. It’s supposed to arrive tomorrow. Thanks Elise for checking on that for me. Max is really sleepy after taking the amlodipine. He slept all day yesterday and is asleep now today. Of course he woke up last night and started running through the house playing so that’s probably why he’s asleep. I’m ready to get that BP monitor though so I can see what’s going on. Thanks again.:cat:

I just read about drug interactions with amlodipine on https://felinecrf.org/hypertension.htm and it says it shouldn’t be taken with Cerenia. It’s not clear though about if they can be taken on the same day, but not at the same time or if they shouldn’t be taken on the same day at all because they are both long acting medications. It does mention that it may be okay to give them 12 hours apart, but check with vet or pharmacist. I give Max’s amlodipine in the morning at amps and the cerenia at PMPS both just once per day as prescribed. Should I stop his cerenia? His vet did not mention anything about this and she prescribed both meds. She is not in the office today. Does or did anyone else give both meds on the same day? @tiffmaxee how about you?

The European Medicines Agency says (clause 4.8 on page 9) that "Cerenia should not be used concomitantly with Ca-channel antagonists as maropitant has affinity to Ca-channels." The University of Zürich Institute for Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicologyalso mentions this (in German). In principle this means that amlodipine should not be used with maropitant (Cerenia), a treatment used for nausea and vomiting. 'Concomitantly' has a rather vague medical meaning in that it means during the same time period, but in this context I don't know exactly what time period the EMA is referring to, i.e. do they mean at the same time or on the same day? Both of these medications tend to be given once daily, so they have a relatively long effect. Maybe giving them both on the same day but 12 hours apart (i.e. one in the morning and one in the evening) would probably be acceptable, but check with your vet or pharmacist.”

My internist gave me cerenia knowing that Max was on amlodipine and he’s very conservative. I usually used ondansetron though as it worked and was less expensive.

I'm torn with my response. On the one hand, I hope Max gives you some :D, on the other hand if he doesn't you'll get some coveted sleep.

I know, that’s what I say! But, when I find myself putting the peanut butter in the refrigerator, I must need sleep lol.

I just received a message from Max’s vet about his lab work. She said his kidney values were all good, except he had 1+ proteinuria which was better than last time. His BUN and creatinine were normal. She didn’t mention the UPC but I did ask for it to be done so not sure if she ordered it or not. His pancreatic enzymes were a little elevated again this time. He struggles with that pancreas of his. His BG was 136. The vet was very pleased with that. I will call back when they open tomorrow and ask them to email me the labs so I can put them in his lab section. It sounds pretty good overall for Max.

Hooray for a good lab report! And good numbers while at the vet, that is really really good! I'm going to re-read the Tanya's website, that extended info on BP cuffs and dopplers was not there back in my days with my Tiger. I hope you get your machine quickly from Amazon. And, if it works out, I hope you get a good night's sleep!
