Good Morning LL!

After a very frustrating yesterday, here we are at today! China was not happy with me this morning when it was test time. Every once in awhile she's decided she's had enough of this ear poking and didn't want to cooperate at all. No big fight, but she sure let me know this poking act wasn't her cup of tea....Maybe she needs another cup of ~O)
Not that I blame her. She's never been one to particularly like having her ears touched, and although she's much better than she used to be, she was a little "grumpy" about the whole routine (although the purrer was set on high...she's never been much of a purr'er so it's nice to hear!


Really trying to get some advice on what might be going on with her numbers. I know she's doing better than she was when we first started, but all this jumping all over is maddening.

Sending healing vines to the kitties in need, and a special prayer for Jupiter and Jamie!

I'd wait to see what happens. This may be a bounce or it may be a high before a break. I'd give this a cycle or two to get sorted out.

Paws crossed that she "un-grumps" and doesn't start acting like Grumpy Cat--now there's a cat with some foul cattitude!!! :lol:

Hi guys .. no dosing advice from me but I can relate to the grumpy cats! Mocha didn't mind the testing but come shot time and all you know what broke out in this house ! have a great day guys!

China has been getting some nice greens, but her live probably just isn't used to them yet. Has anyone sent you any patience pants? ;-)

Tess generally sleeps right by her testing spot. But she has the ability to sense the alarm about 30 seconds before it goes off and gets up and leaves!

I've got several pair....and some suspenders to hike them up higher with :lol:

Don't know where the 300's are coming from today...or why she went up so much at +3. She also seems to be hungrier than usual today. Eating pretty much the same amount as usual, but keeps giving me "the look"....You guys know what I'm talking about....LOL

She's been on .5 since 7/22 and just doesn't seem to be consistently into the healing green/low blue numbers. One test here, one test there

Sure don't have any idea what's going on today! Yesterday all 200's during AM cycle, today all 300's? Whisper in my ear China!!! What ARE you doing? I promise not to tell anyone!! (well, aside from everyone here)

Going to take to the vet tomorrow for a weight check and have her teeth looked at. Saturday I got a good whiff of stinky breath, and although it might be from food changes?, I want to make sure there's nothing more serious going on.

The hard part will be trying to explain the SS numbers to the vet (especially since they're not making much sense anyway). He thought she'd need at least 4 units/day when we first started this, and although agreed to let me start where I felt comfortable at, seemed a bit upset when I called in a status report about 3 weeks ago that she wasn't on higher doses...even when I told him she'd dropped to 21! Guess I'll just have to do the best I can, and hope he'll listen. He's not "in to" computers, so although he seemed a little interested in looking at the message board, I really doubt if he actually did it. I guess the good thing is that I hold the needle, so I can give what I think is best for her, not take his word for it. He's never used Lantus before (only Pro Zinc) so I don't think he truly understands that there's a difference.

Wish us luck! Hoping she doesn't need a dental because there's no way I can afford it. Really don't know what I'd do if she needs one :cry:

Happy to see Jamie and Jupiter found a vet that's going to actually treat him like the precious soul he is...and take the time to explain every step to Jamie!

Maybe China and Julia got together and conspired to confuse the heck out of us because I'm in the same boat you are. I had to try to explain why I was not using the prescribed dose to the vet and up until then I could justify it with low numbers (and bounces of course) but since then I am lost. I really wish their liver's and pancreas' would get the message that we're trying to help and stop this insane bouncing. I'm going to need a padded room for myself before I start bouncing off of the walls. :lol:

Come China be good,Lucky was a charm when it came to testing I could walk up to him put his meter on him while I was poking his ears never budged,such a good kitty :smile: I know bout the dental just took Kalohe i they gave him a shot of DEPO Met?
inflammatory med Taz I think to needs to be seen but just don't have the cash. Ko was $75 to be seen and the shot way to much money for that. Good Luck and appy vines and healing vine to you. Thanks for stopping by

Linda, I think it was probably Depo-Medrol...it's an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid (not to be confused with a steroid) ..but it usually works really well!

I hope if they do find something, it can be treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs without the cost of the dental too, but if she does have issues in her mouth that could be causing problems with her BG readings, I'm betting she'll need the dental first...AND the AB and anti-inflammatory drugs...I just can't figure a way to afford it on my income...I spent almost 10% of my total income on food for China and the other 2 :cry:

I know!! And China has to give these crazy numbers now!! Not too long ago, I could have shown him the spreadsheet and say "See how well she's doing?" but now? I'm sure he's going to want to increase her...of course I'm the one controlling the needle...thank goodness!!

I guess I can HOPE she continues to come down and ends up in the lagoon tomorrow before we go!

Sending tons of good vetty vines for tomorrow. Sienne mentioned one possibility that this is a high before the break. Neko is great at doing that. She'd often gets her highest numbers just before diving down. :roll:

Good luck with the numbers discussion with the vet. The last couple of vetty visits we've done, Neko's done her normal day time bounces. And I get to say "but she was between 100-200 all last night". Sigh.

I certainly hope it is Wendy!! It'd be the first time China's done something more or less "by the book"...LOL

I would just love to see day after day of nothing but blues/greens (but at this point I'd settle for 2 cycles in a row)....I'd feel like I was actually getting somewhere!

I'm also hoping that the syringe magnifier helps out...even using calipers, I find myself second guessing where I think I see the "points" on the calipers...and after awhile, it just gets fuzzier and fuzzier

If she'd just keep coming down all night and give me a nice blue in the morning (and either surfed or even dipped into the greens), I'd be thrilled!!

Thanks for the visits from everyone today. I know I'm not the only one going bald from this crazy dance!

Thanks for all the vetty vines!! I bet the guy would call out the little white men in their clean white coats if I try explaining vines and beans (especially the different kinds...appy vines, vetty vines and the always popular poopy vines.....LOL)

Maybe if she keeps this up, she will be in the lower blues/higher greens tomorrow by the time we go. Her appointment is 3:30 so later in the day. Sure would be nice to have her just keep dropping the way she has done most of today (other than the food spike this morning)

You remind me so much of me when Gracie was on Lantus. :lol: so I'm not sure if that's a comfort or not ;-)

I bought this Light Tracer Table and it really helps with the dosing.

Uh...yeah....I'm not sure if that helps either Grace :lol: :lol:

I guess mostly I'm just getting frustrated that China's not doing a little better than she is by now. I know she's better than she was before we started all this...she's acting much better, peeing a lot less, drinking a lot less, and generally acting like she reversed time back to when she was much younger...those things I'm very grateful for!!

The Light Tracer Table looks interesting, but I'm not sure how it works other than adding extra light (which granted, would help me out some!)..but coming up with another $40+ is just more than my budget can handle. Does it also magnify by any chance? Just curious about how it helps.

As it is, I'm not at all sure how I'm going to pay for the vet visit tomorrow, and if she needs meds or a dental, I'm at a loss. I only get SSI of $692/month so there's just not much wiggle room for extras. :cry:

I guess I'll just celebrate the little victories and continue to try to find a pair of patience pants that fit just right

It provides an under light which helps me. It does not magnify. I have a magnifying glass that is list so I have light above and below.

That's what happens when you're brain is half dead from lack of sleep, huh?? Sorry about that Marje!!....lol (but I did have an Aunt Grace! She was always the life of the party too....you'd never know what Aunt Grace would do...and most of it was "spur of the moment" kinds of crazy!!

This vet visit (with nothing wrong and not needed antiibiotis or dental) will still cost me in the area of $85 just for the office call...add a dental and meds and we're well into the several hundred dollar range.
I already had to skip one light bill to be able to have money for food for all 3 kitties, a box of 100 syringes and the insulin too...they don't like it much if I miss 2 payments. Stupid phone company want's their money out of me to keep my phone/internet working too.

On my "wish list" is a good, but cheap camera so I can get some good pictures of my kitties too!!

Good luck at the vetty visit today, Chris! Hope no dental is needed - and as you said, thank goodness we hold the syringe! Looks like China listened to mum and came down for you :-D Go glad she is acting/feeling better, even if her numbers are not where you want them, yet!!

I just want to add my good vetty wishes for China today. Your WCR says everything about what a wonderful job you two have done so far. China's numbers just mean that she's working her way to her breakthrough. I hope your vet understands. Good luck and update us when you can.
