I'm confused. Champ's +10 at 5:30 this morning was 135. I fed him 3 shrimp because he had two hours before he could have breakfast. Granted, I should have only given him two, but I was feeling generous ( ). Two hours after the 135, he's now 244???? I really can't blame this on a bounce, because he really hasn't been bouncing for a while and he's used to the greens. I went through his food schedule on his SS to see all the other times I fed him shrimp to see if it caused a bump in BG and it didn't. Hmmmmm.....this is a puzzler. I do believe I need to stay up later at night to get my early morning work done so I can get up in just enough time to test feed shoot. That way, I'm not tempted to feed the poor pathetic whiny bugger early and end up with a higher than normal number.

Know what's funny? I remember the days when I would KILL for a number this good!! Shows you how everything is relative...when you're used to pinks, mid yellow is good...when you're used to blues and greens, mid yellow is bad.

Well, I pick up the DD late this afternoon. I miss the noise in the house, but I really don't miss that "I'm 19, I can do what I want, when I want to do it, so stop talking, because I'm not listening anyway, and if you don't like the way my room looks, close the door" attitude. I love my daughter, but girl children are really hard on the psyche!!!

I hope everyone has a great day. TGIF for REAL!!!

I hear ya on perspective, Patty.....it's amazing that what once looked terrific can now be upsetting! Im sure the extra shrimp didnt bounce Champ up.....maybe he just wanted to throw you an odd number. Did you try re-checking him, just in case it was a meter error?

Have a great day....enjoy DD being home... ;-)

Re: 8/5 Champ AMPS 244

Maybe the spike was from the chocolate cake Champ had for dessert! Patty, my husband and I had 4 boys and both of us wanted a girl so badly, that we tried one more time. Well, we should have been more careful about what we wished for, because we got our girl!! The amount of worry, attention, frustration, and drama it took to raise her, was not as much as it took to raise all 4 boys @-) I could write a book. Anyone who has raised a girl feels your pain. But now she's my absolute best friend. The mother-daughter relationship is such a complicated one, but so rewarding (if you both can survive) Have a great day. Hugs to Champ.

Re: 8/5 Champ AMPS 244

Looks like it is just an "off" morning for Champ, or he has been hiding some nummies under his bed from you. It will clear soon and he will be back to his "normal" blue green self.

Oy. I am glad I have a boy. I have been told many horror stories from my friends who have girls. Boys are much easier as far as I've heard and mine has been a breeeezzzzeeee. Danielle is just a very beautiful and independent woman who is making sure you know that! haha_smiley I bet it will be nice to have her home though, temperment and all!

Have a wonderful Friday!!

Re: 8/5 Champ AMPS 244

  It's nice to know there are people out there who know what I'm talking about with daughters!!! She gave me no trouble with boys, alcohol, drugs, trouble with the law....it's just her mouth. Before puberty, she was the PERFECT child. Did what I asked when I asked, was polite to everyone, including me, never ever had a tantrum (never had the terrible two's), could take her to any restaurant and she behaved. Then puberty.....oh God...she's the moodiest person I've ever met. I said it before and I'll say it again....I get whiplash from the speed of her mood swings!!! Under it all, though, she and I still love to do things together. I really can't wait, though, for when this moody time of her life passes. And I hope like hell that she has a daughter of her own one day!!!! That'll teach her!!!

I think there is a Kitty Konvocation on the yellow floor! I'm chanting my mantra "This too will pass, …….this too will pass, ……."

Re: 8/5 Champ AMPS 244

hahaha, your mother probably said that too! and look who you got! i've got 3 daughters too, although after we took in our foster daughter (at age 16) my youngest daughter (same age) did an about face on the moodiness. she is now the happiest 19 year old girl on the planet. my foster daughter has mental health problems and is often eeyore (eeyore who thinks everyone owes her) - i think living with that caused my youngest to shape up and resolve she didn't ever want to be an eeyore. it also made my son (3 yrs older) full of gratitude for everything in his life that we've ever done for him. "thanks for making dinner, mom and dad. thanks for letting me use the car. thanks for letting me live here. you're awesome." that kind of stuff. he overflows with gratitude. it's makes it tolerable that he does other 22 year old guy stuff!

and yes, girls are much harder than boys. boys do clear cut things - they throw things and break things and run around. girls are sneaky conniving creatures who play mind games on their poor parents! "but when i was 14 you made ME do x - it's not FAIR that she doesn't have to!" like i could ever remember what rule i had 6 years earlier!

haha, ah life. kids.

champ will come back down. 244 isn't so bad for one snapshot moment! hope you enjoyed those shrimp, champers!

Re: 8/5 Champ AMPS 244

I'm smelling consipracy. Yellows to go around for everyone!!

I don't have kids, but I have a sister who is 26 going on 6 most of the time. I feel your pain!

Re: 8/5 Champ AMPS 244

Sorry on the higher number today for Champ but I'm sure things will change for the better real soon, if not tonight.

I don't have kids either, but I will tell you that daughters in the long run will be there for you when you are old and sick. I work in geriatrics and most of the time it is the daughters that are caring for their parents, rarely the son. Even the daughter-in-law does more than the sons!

Re: 8/5 Champ AMPS 244

yeah, i took care of my parents - my dad even lived with us for 3 years after my mom passed away. and my youngest daughter, who i don't malign too much, said she'd even make me chicken when i live with her someday. you have to understand that she's a vehement vegetarian to appreciate the extraordinariness of that comment! she doesn't even want us to put a dish of meat on the table if it looks like meat. like no rotisserie chicken sitting there. i figure after i've humored her all these years on that she can make me chicken.

so i remind her regularly that she told me she'd make me chicken when i'm old and infirm.

wouldn't trade my girls for anything, quite honestly, but i do enjoy my son a lot.

hope you're having fun having danielle home, patty!

Champ is just chugging away. I hope you got out for dinner with Danielle. I know you are so glad to have her home.

Well...I don't have kids but I have a niece who my sister swears is my child but she had to carry her through pregnancy. Anyway, my niece knows I love shoes so she said if I'm ever old and alone, I can live in her attic and she'll buy me tons of house slippers.
