Well this morning's numbers answered my question if their earmite treatment was going to raise their BGs. Sigh. Or at least its my only explanation for both of them to be in the red. Guess I just shoot around it for a couple days because can't not treat the earmites.
On other news...praying I can not only find a live trap to borrow but can sweet talk this pretty baby into it. When we moved in a gorgeous chocolate brown and white long haired kitty kept raiding the dumpster at the coffee shop behind the house. Well long story short I noticed he was hurt, he was missing a chunk of skin about the size of a half dollar on his neck. So I started feeding him hoping to gain enough trust to at least get antibiotics in him. Two night's ago I saw him crossing the field carrying one front leg up and hopping on 3 but where he was I thought perhaps just a thorn in the paw and he'd groom it out. Nope he came to eat last night and the front leg is clearly broken. He needs medical treatment Now!! No time to build trust now. If the rescue will vet him I can probably set him up a kennel here to rehab if they don't have room for him. But if they won't vet him since he's feral then I'm going to have him euthanized.
Well she has the site bookmarked and I printed off her a bunch of info to read and hooked her up with my vet so she can get a decent insulin for Chaos. Mine prescribes Levemir or Lantus hers has him on N. So we'll see. I'm getting with her over the weekend to help her with testing. Took her meter shopping last night. So she has the resources.
oh, ok. ur so good mel. helping diabetic kitties everywhere.
u need a shirt that says "i am a crazy (diabetic) cat lady", and on the back.... "saving one diabetic cat at a time".
So sad about the feral.... hope you can get him to where he needs to be whether that be to the vet and rehab or the Rainbow Bridge where he won't have to scavenge for food or live in pain. Poor baby...
No as for Autumn and Cassanova... gee-whiz, the ear mite meds did that... well... they will down in the swimmin' hole before you know it.
I know I can't save them all but I also can't watch one suffer in silence. At one time he was quite a striking cat. And wants badly to trust because before this last injury he would come up on the deck if we were inside or lay in the yard if we were out on the deck, he's never growled or hissed at me when I've gone to give him food or water just moves a respectful distance away and waits patiently.
Just got home from picking up the trap now to sweet talk him into going in. I keep calling him a him but I really don't know the gender. But he looks like a he kinda like a sad old man. Could be a her as well time will tell if I can get it in the trap. Then comes trying to get him vetted. Rescue doesn't have room (kitten season) so it may be on my dime and I still owe $313 for Arabella's surgery. Luckily for me my vet is a sucker for injured critters.
p.s. mel....i know u hv bn so busy, so i dont think u did, but did u evr shoot/post a video of cassie? or whoevr u said is funny for behavior at test/shot time? look/ing fwd to that someday i hope.
