Hi to all and THANK YOU FOR ALL THE PRAYERS AND WELL WISHES. I am making phenominal progress. Dr is amazed.

Yes, I'm home, not a very pleasant experience. I have visiting nurses and physical therapy at home. They and my Dr. ave available 24/7 if the need arises. The home health agency is affiliated with the hospital so they have access to my records via the internet. Technology is wonderful.

I tripped over my foot and fell on a hard surface. I have a Intertrochanteric Fracture. The put a 12" titanium rod in the femur and plate and screws in the hip. I have 2 fairly small incisions one with 10 staples and one with 14. I have a walker, crutches and hopefully will be using only a cane in 10 days. I am fully weight bearing on my leg, on pain meds every 6 hours and a blood thinner subq every 24 hours and that is about all. I have a friend staying with me for a few days. I am doing extrememly well. Care I received was fantastic and the Orthopedist was fantastic. They did the surgery early Wednesday morning and it has been steadily up hill. Tuesday and Tuesday night were terrible. They gave me (who never takes meds) morphine every 2 hoursand it didn't touch the pain.

Nancy came in to take care of the cats and Kelly took Lakota for an indefinite period. Tuffy's bgs are running 250 I will give it a few days and see what she does, she is very sensitive to stress. Nancy said when she came they would all wait by the door to see if I was coming behind her. Needless to say I have pleanty of bed company. They smell me like they smell one another when one returns from the vet. Waif is still very upset.

I wll post an update on the board and reply to e-mails as I can. I am so grateful for all the wonderful friends I have. I am also grateful that they did not get upset when I would fall asleep when they were there to visit. The nurses were extremely caring and attentive. I got lots of hugs when I was leaving and an invitation to visit when I was better.

I will start reading condos as I can. Sitting is still a little uncomfortable so I get most of my exercise doing small walks.

Thanks for your thoughts and concerns. I am lucky to be blessed with such good health. Dr. H (ortho doc) said my blood work was better than most of theirs, in fact all my vitals are very good. I go to the Dr. in 10 days and we will see what is next. He did say I was lucky I did not break my knee and lower leg also. Thankfully the right ankle that had the spiral fractures also sustained the fall.

Again THANK YOU. I'M SURE ALL THE SUPPORT FROM LL IS THE REASON FOR SUCH A DRAMATIC RECOVERY. HUGS TO ALL.

:YMHUG: back you ya Barb.
I was praying for you and knew you had a bunch of good karma coming to you that you had earned.

Hugs to you and scritches to Tuffy and the others!

It's great to hear you sounding so well, Barbara. Take it nice and slow and don't overdo. Everyone here understands if you're not up to replying right away. Update as you can and no sooner. Sending lots of healing wishes to you.

Great WBR! At least it is for someone who's been through what you've been through. Wow, what an ordeal. I am so glad you are doing so well and have had excellent care. Did your critters lick off the vetty smell? Sending healing energy for continued progress in your recovery.

Welcome home, Barbara! I am sure that you will be much more comfortable recovering at home. I keep meaning to watch my step more carefully, following some good advice you gave me on FB after I took a fall  , but those feet just keep getting in the way! I am sorry that you had to go through all of that pain, but you are making a remarkable recovery. I will keep more of those non-slip snowflakes coming for continued progress!

Welcome home and hugs all around! Your progress is amazing, and somehow I am not at all surprised. You are one heckuva fighter, and a very strong person. Continue to get better - I have no doubt you will. You've got the best at home care: all those furry critters. I am sure that they are very attentive!

You take care!

Barbara you are truly amazing and an inspiration. I'm in awe that you are walking and doing so well after such a big procedure. Wow. Do take it easy - its not a race. You made my night with your update. Big hugs to you.

Barbara, Rusty wants to know if you would like a visit from the KTSS tonight. They'll bring some chicken soup and the whole spa treatment to get the hospital smell off of you so that your fur family will know it's you.
We are so glad that you are home and recovering well. Don't push it (too much!).

Love and lots of hugs,

Ella & Rusty

Thanks for all the positive replys. I'm not pushing myself. I'm only doing what I was told including taking those pain meds. I do my exercises for leg and breathing and to prevent thrombosis. Tuffy's numbers are still in the 200s. I believe I'm better off home than in Rehab because of my furbabies. Lakota is back with Katie temporarily. Can't handle that now. I'll have company tonight and tomorrow night and then visiting nurse, physical therapy and Nancy will be checking on me nightly. YEAH, I'm allowed a shower on Monday. Do you know what it is like to not shower for 7 days? It's driving me nuts. Bed baths don't do it. I'm excited about that. Nurse will be here for that.

Thank you again. All of you and Rusty, I would love KTSS to visit. They will make my recovery faster as being home with my guys will also speed the recovery. On a funny note, Wiaf checked out the Nurse today and sat and watched her every move. She she left he smelled where she was. Luckily she has 5 kitties so she did not object to my crew. What a blessing. I'm spending some quality time with Tuffy a fw time a day. Hopefully I will sleep with her on Monday night. I just didn't want her using my tummy as a trampoline for a few days LOL.

Again. Thank you so much, your thoughts and vines are helping me progress. I won't rush it. I need to heal so I can ride again.

Hugs and love - Barbara

(((Barbara)))) I'm so glad you are home with your furry family. I hope they can give you some TLC and definitely no trampoline action from Tuffy. The thought of that made me wince for you. Yikes!

And are you going to set off the security alarms at airports now?

Hang in there!
