Almost hit green last night but back up to high yellow this morning and likely to be pink with a food spike. I don't understand why Max continues to do this. I'm discouraged again. With my nephew's wedding coming up on Saturday, I guess I shouldn't increase but I think it is needed.

Mom update is not good either. She was still in a foul mood and that means the infection is not going away. She didn't want to eat much all day. Hopefully the medication switch will kick in by tonight. I pray she will get better for the wedding and not end up in the hospital.

update: It is sure easier to shoot the scruff but maybe it doesn't absorb well enough for him there? I'm thinking an increase is necessary even though I will have to deal with Saturday.

Well you know as soon as I suggest that taking him up is a good idea, he will come down. ;-)

But I think he needs a kickstart and you are there to monitor him so even though this dose has gotten him into the 40s, he just looks so-so on it. Your call whether to change the Injection site first and then see what happens before you raise or just increase if numbers don't improve today.

He seems to just be starting a new bounce so I don't think the +2 is the high before the break. But ....I could be wrong just because I said it :lol: :lol:

Sending gobs of vines for your mom. I feel so sad for her. I wish they could find an a/b that would work.

Thank you Marje. I fear my DM will need IV antibiotics to knock it out. I pray I am wrong.

If he is bouncing again is it still okay to increase tonight?

Still bouncing and still grunting. Maybe the BG is high because he doesn't feel well? He just finished the food I put out at +2. He ate some then and the rest now. At least he was resting and not under the bed. He ate his fd after his test and is sitting by his food dish. I guess I'll put out a little more as he hasn't eaten more than 1/2 a ff can and I only gave him 2 pieces of S&C so far.

It's up to you in whether you increase on a bounce, for a new member, I'd say definitely not. I've increased on a bounce and was glad I did but also thought "I should have waited one more cycle" . But sometimes they need a little extra insulin to get them kick started and sometimes it only takes one or two shots at the higher dose. If you want to see an example of the latter, check out 5/17 on Gracies SS. One shot at a higher dose gave her a good boot. But it was a busy day.

I also hope your mom doesn't need IV antibiotics. If she does, perhaps a home health nurse could administer it daily. They did that with my mom last time because she refused to go to the hospital.

We will definitely check into the IV at home as she has a home healthcare nurse following her. Thanks for mentioning it.

I think I will try the increase tonight then. I don't like what I am seeing here at all. He just called for me while I was typing and is purring and rubbing up against his scale which reminds me I need to weigh him tomorrow morning. He is getting 3.59mm to allow for the ever present bubble. How much should I increase him?

ah, shoot. it sounds like one of those days where nothing's going right, elise. i hope the switch ABs and your mom is back to herself again.

boy max has some weird bounces sometimes. i'm looking at today adn wondering if this IS a high before the break. i'm wondering if he got low in the early hours of this morning. You've got the 108 at +6.5. hmmmmmmmmmm

you have a couple of choices.

you could go with the normal 0.25u increase. a bigger increase can have a little more punch to it and help you get on top of numbers more easily. or,

you could go with a slight increase, hitting somewhere between 2.25 and 2.5u. sometimes skootching up in dose doesn't help much, as you know.

i think i'd go with the larger increase, and try again to keep him from getting a reduction. he has so many higher numbers still . . . my thought is that if he had mostly a green ss, i'd skootch up just to fine-tune. but with all those pink numbers there, it means he's still reacting to normal numbers. so i think i'd go with the larger increase. that's just me, though.

I agree with Julie on all accounts. I'd give him a full increase but be prepared for what he might do when the bounce clears.

But I also agree the choice is yours and we will support you 100%.

Okay. I took the .25. Due to the bubbles his dose is 2.5+ (3.97mm). I don't think he went lower than the 108 but I be he bounced from going from the 400's to 108. That was at +6.5 so perhaps he hit green at +6 but if so I bet is was a 99. I shot on the left side. It is harder to shoot there and so much easier in the scruff but I don't know if that was part of today's problem or not. I've only shot there a few times and it might just be coincidence. Since he tried to bite me again yesterday it was easier. He was okay tonight. I'm shocked at all this pink though. I don't think he feels well either. Thankfully his appetite is good. I hope you see some action from that dosecrease ASAP...work it, Max! Sending tons and tons of prayers for your Mom....

Sure hope Max has hit his high point. I'm getting very nervous.

elise, the more data you get, the more it looks to me like he started a bounce from something last night.

i think you might be really happy if you took a break from testing him and don't test him again til at least +4 or 5 tonight. this looks like a new bounce to me. if he's going to be high, you might as well go for a walk, read a book or watch a movie. he will come down again!

Elise, thanks for taking the time to email me the link and for your suggestions today. Today was crazy but I will read it tomorrow. Thanks for helping me when you had a lot on your plate with your mom and trying to figure out Max's dose. Hoping the increase will be the kickstart Max needs and reduces the bouncing.

I will continue to pray for your mom that the antibiotic works well to rid her body of infections and that she will recover nicely rather than decline.

I guess Max needs more than one shot at this dose. I haven't been sleeping so well so I guess it is a good thing because I dosed off on the sofa and didin't test him until 5.25. I guess he's done until tomorrow now.
