Today I received my 1lb jar of aluminum hydroxide powder. Holy Cow...who knew it was so much lol I'm thinking enough for 3 of her lifetimes at least :o

Anyway, started her on that 1/8 tsp this morning. Any idea how it takes to see those numbers drop? Would it be worth it to me to have a new blood panel run on Friday..her next visit..where they plan on doing some special test? I swore the Tech said Glucosamide in her voicemail...but may she meant the Fructosamine test cause that would make sense :-D

Any thoughts on a updated blood panel....if the powder won't have an impact on her phosphorus levels then I may way for the next visit. I don't think she is getting anemic yet and I had to draw blood if I don't have too?

Re: amps 154 Day 2 at 1.5

Could you add Izzy's name to your subject line? And just to be more annoying about housekeeping details, could you add the dose you shot to your SS for last night and this morning?

I wouldn't be surprised if you saw some lower numbers today. It looks like you shot a dropping number so I'd get a +2 for sure to see what Izzy may be up to.

Re: 8/4 Izzy: amps 154 Day 2 at 1.5, +2 110

sorry. I will never get into the groove of all this detail. ugh.

In my haste to make sure I post here there an everywhere...I always seem to miss something!

Nice day for Izzy. Love seeing those nice greens with this dose increase.

Don't worry, we all forget some of the details sometimes. We're just trying to nudge you a little so we have the information we need to help you better. The details get there eventually. You just have a lot of eagle eyed people keeping an eye on you and Izzy, and we notice when some things are missing. :o  :o

yes she had a good day. I know green is good, but it sure makes me nervous to go so green when I'm no home nailbite_smile

I am suppose to give her her full dose on Sundays and Monday as I move her back to her regulary schedule correct? I know I should not move her more than 30 minutes a day, but its closure to 40 minutes per day. I try not do more than 20 minute increments. I may have to ask one of my jobs for a schedule change so I am not moving her around so much on the weekends.

Still am wanting input on her next vet visit on Friday. I'm not sure how much blood they take for a fructosamine test. Also I don't know how much effect the phos binders will have on her by Friday....but do you think I should do a full blood panel again?

Janet, I can't advise you on the full blood panel or not. I don't have enough experience or knowledge with CKD. If your vet gives you what
sounds like a good reason for getting one, than go ahead and get one.

Hoping someone else can help you out with that question.

Yes, you should be giving Izzy her full dose on Sundays and Mondays as you move her back to her regular shot schedule.

With your testing and the data you have on your spreadsheet, there really is no need for a Fructosamine test. It's only going to show an average over the last couple of weeks. Your meter should have an average function. Usually for 14 days and 30 days. Give your vet those two numbers along with a copy of the SS, which is real time extremely accurate data instead of an average over a couple of weeks.

With that much data, your vet should not need the Fructosamine test.

I agree that you really don't need the fructosamine test. I wouldn't pay for it. If the vet wants it and you don't, ask if she will comp it. You have real time data.

I think next week is too soon to see a difference in the phosphorus level. I'd probably give it a month.

He may very well forgo the fructosamine once he see the spreadsheet. He knows I'm a freakshow about my pets and that I am not his typical client. I tend to go the other extreme and the ones that can't or won't be bothered :)

More so I am wondering if the aluminum hydroxide will have any effect after only 6 days to where I should get updated panel on that...or if should just wait until her follow up after that to check her pho levels.
