I’m still decently new here and can’t remember the names of the people who can give advice, could you tag them in here for me?I don't think there is a choice between 1.25 and 1.5 units, but maybe tag someone more experienced with dosing for that question.
I use cerenia all the time for Jack and the rest of the herd. I have never had a problem with it. The dose I was prescribed by my vet is: 1/4 of a 16mg tablet once every 24 hours if the cat is 9 pounds or less, and 1/2 of a 16mg tablet once every 24 hours if the cat is over 9 pounds. I always have some on hand for Jack, as well as his sister Gypsy. I have used it on quite a few of my other cats as well from time to time, but Jack and Gypsy get it more often than the rest. I have been using cerenia for the cats for at least 5 years now without incident. I can't tell you what to do for Bubbas, just telling you my experience with it.
As for vets prescribing 'off label' meds for cats, happens all the time. My vet explained it to me as there hasn't been all the required controlled live cat studies done with cerenia for it to be "approved", but knowing what's in the meds, and knowing about the cat, she felt safe prescribing it to me. My vet belongs to a board where vets across the country discuss cases such as these, and off label treatments they have used, etc. There's a good amount of research there, so I trust her when she says she feels confident with the cerenia.
If you did math on calories correctly, I'm jealous! If that's the case, I would say order it, FF and Friskies aren't necessarily 'approved' by the veterinary community, and everyone here seems to calculate calories and carbs and then see what their cat eats to manage the diabetes and possibly other health conditions so not sure why this would be different, but check with someone more experienced on the food as well, since I can't manage to do the math for Jack.
Really hope Bubbas feels better soon...hope he is pooping normal amounts...that's the only other thing I can think of, and with so much vomit be careful of dehydration. Sending you both much love and hugs!![]()
So the folks who have commented on your posts before that I have seen are @Wendy&Neko and @Hendrick Cuddleclaw I think @Deb and Sylvester , @Mikanmama , @Angela & Cleo and @Diane Tyler's Mom, @Bandit's Mom have good advice. I'm sorry if I'm tagging anyone who can't help, or tagging out of turn.I’m still decently new here and can’t remember the names of the people who can give advice, could you tag them in here for me?
Bubbas has puked twice already and it’s only 5:50am here.I think I need to take him to the ER

Katrina, you can always put a GA on your title instead of a ? and an experienced member who is a general admin should be able to help, I'm sorry I'm not able to be more helpful
Hope Bubbas is doing better this evening
GA means the cat has passed away..Gone Ahead or Guardian Angel.thank you for tagging those wonderful people! And I thought I was suppose to put a “?” At the begging if I had a question. Lol what is GA?

Oh wait I definitely don’t want to put GA as my title ever lol but thank you for explaining that!!!GA means the cat has passed away..Gone Ahead or Guardian Angel.
The ? is the right prefix to use from the drop-down if you’ve got a question.
The 911 is reserved for possible hypo/ medical emergency.
ETA: You can remove the ? or 911, if/when the query is resolved or when kitty is out of danger, respectively
@Jack & Mopem'sMom oops!![]()

Don’t apologise! Almost everyone needs to be told what GA means, I think. Gen admin must be a common assumption.Ohh I thought the GA was for general admin...so many apologies! Thank you for clearign that up!

I use Cerenia and it is very often prescribed for cats. The other thing I add if my cat is nauseous is Ondansetron, this is very helpful and is taken along with Cerenia. Did they check for Pancreatitis?I ended up just giving him 1/2 of the pill this morning with his food. I’m going to try and stay up and make sure he doesn’t react badly to it. :/
No, I just told them what was going on with bubbas and they said to pick up some anti nausea medsI use Cerenia and it is very often prescribed for cats. The other thing I add if my cat is nauseous is Ondansetron, this is very helpful and is taken along with Cerenia. Did they check for Pancreatitis?
