Yesterday

So tired of all the rain and humidity. I think we turned into a rain forest here. Olive isn't doing to bad on this dose, hope her surf time increases though.

The only good thing about all this rain, my pickles are producing, I picked a lot yesterday, so will be making more today or tomorrow. Already have enough to get through next grilling season. And the plants are still producing so we will get a safety cushion again. Tomatoes are starting to ripen.

I've seen deer pluck them right off the vines. Now we put the green plastic storm fence around them. Only have 4 tomato plants so we wrap the fence around pairs and thread a support like through so I can easily get to them. Not the nicest look but it works.

Mine too! Every darn day we see one that's turning 'pink' - ah a tomato on the way! And the next day - some critter has eaten away half of it...hate to say it but they're living dangerously - DH has a gun

If you have the space you can make a raised bed - fill it with good soil and plant a few veggies - easier on the back too

It's been nice and cool here for the last week, but so cool that some trees have already started shedding some leaves. Today it's supposed to start getting hot again. Ugh. Olive is looking great so far!

A safety cushion of pickles made me smile. But only a few weeks ago at supper my beloved said, "You know what sounds really good with this? Pickles! Do we have any pickles?" And I had to say no, because we had no safety cushion.
