Nice start for Trix today...much less of a "heart attack" AMBG number for the bean!! I started giving her one 10ml syringe of fuds in the evening and one in the morning to help boost her calorie intake. This time around I'm using Wild Callings Cabin Fever...she doesn't love this as a "stand alone" fuds so she really doesn't go for it when I offer it on a plate, but I know it's higher caloried and lower phosphorous, and she doesn't object to it from a syringe so far. She really is very good and easy-going about syringe feedings. In addition to the syringes, she has eaten at least her normal amount from my "bean holding the plate" offerings, if not a little more, both last evening and so far this morning. She's her usual happy perky snuggly self.

We also started her new dose of .625mg amlodipine once a day, rather than twice a day. We do have compounded pills coming, since she may need an even smaller dose and it is physically not possible to cut the human pills down any smaller than .625mg. We'll recheck her BP in 1.5 - 2 weeks. I so wish we could check it at home  ....

No word from the vet yet about her BW results. I imagine that if she does call today, it will be later in the afternoon after she does appointments.

I haven't spoken to my parents since my Mom told me yesterday morning that my Dad wasn't feeling well; I wanted to let him rest and I knew if I called he'd either be sleeping or watching the Notre Dame game and I certainly did not want to interrupt that! (I watched the game, too, but I had it recorded so I could watch in the evening.) I'll check in with them shortly.

Time to get moving....some housework, some relaxing, maybe some beading....have a great Sunday, LL!

Re: 8/31 Trixie AMBG 136 "+3.5" 95

We almost lost my dad a little over a year ago. After he came home from the hospital, I wanted to call constantly to see how he was doing. At the same time, I didn't want to disturb his rest. It was so hard to find the balance there.

Sending lots of prayers for your dad! :YMHUG:

Re: 8/31 Trixie AMBG 136 "+3.5" 95

I know what you mean, Shelly....I'm a huge helicopter so this is challenging! I hope your Dad is 100% now.

Re: 8/31 Trixie AMBG 136 "+3.5" 95

Also....I did call our local Ma & Pop pet food store to see if they have the treats that Ann (&Tess) mentioned yesterday....they sold out and aren't getting them again (of course!), but they did say the would try to order a bag for me. Of course I was just out at PetSmart, etc earlier in the day yesterday, so I probably won't be out that way again for a couple weeks  ....hopefully the local place will come through for me!

   Nice start. Sending more vines for your DF. I think the NV cat treats are the same as the dog treats, the ingredients are the same.

Re: 8/31 Trixie AMBG 136 "+3.5" 95

Good luck with the new dose of amlodipine. I'm glad Trixie is not fighting you on the syringe feeding. Sending more prayers for your dad.

Re: 8/31 Trixie AMBG 136 "+3.5" 95

I'll check out the dog treats...I am heading out to the supermarket next to the Ma and Pop pet fuds store later today.

Re: 8/31 Trixie AMBG 136 "+3.5" 95

Lovely start for the sweet Trixie, today. That's so fantastic that she will take syringed fuds so well. I'm pretty sure I'd lose a hand/arm/face if I tried to syringe feed Shasta!!! I hope you dad feels better today. Maybe the Notre Dame game helped boost his spirits! ;-) Prayers for DF and wishing you a nice, relaxing day with lots of accomplishments around the house!! :-D

Re: 8/31 Trixie AMBG 136 "+3.5" 95

Well, Trixie, that start to the day is much better.

Glad she's eating and taking the syringe feedings so well. I'm taking a couple syringes on our trip...just in case. Oh, goodness, what a mess we'll make if we need them! Note to self: shower and dress after T/F/S! Oh, and take a mop!

Hope your dad is feeling better. That first treatment can be a doozy.

Atta girl Trix! :-D You eat them fuds and put that bit of weight back on.
Hope your Dad's feeling better today Amy :YMHUG: I truly know how stressful this is, and my love and thoughts are with you all.

Re: 8/31 Trixie AMBG 136 "+3.5" 95

Much better, Trixie. Way to help your Mamabean relax. :-D

How nice that she's amenable to syringe feeding. I don't want to think what would happen if I had to syringe feed either of my Abys. :o   Minka and Cinco would be easier, but I hope I don't ever have to find out.

I hope you find your DF feeling better today. Sending more vines and prayers for him.

Enjoy your time off, Amy. You've really earned it!

Such a nice PMBG, thanks to the fact that I was home and able to give her a snicky-snack at +10. I wish I could do that for every cycle, and/or I wish she'd use an auto feeder...

I don't have the actual report in my hand yet as I'm waiting for the vetty to e-mail it to me, but all of her BW is basically stable....BUN and Creat. were down a tad, HCT was the same, potasium was good. The only thing was her phosphorous was up a tad, so I guess I need to use a little more binder to keep it from going any higher. So still Stage 3. As soon as I get the report, I'll update her labs tab.

I need to do her evening meds, but of course she decided she wanted to snuggle instead, and she knows I can't say "no" to that.....she knows how to put things off! You're only buying a few minutes here, Trix....

Great day and wow what a wonderful PMBG!!!

Congrats on the good news on the bloodwork. Stable is AWESOME!!

I hope your dad has a better day today. I'm sure that he appreciates your helicoptering. ;-) :-D

Fabulous PMBG! Way to go MS. P. Great news on the B/W, one less thing to worry about.

I just saw someone the other day with a quadcopter drone flying it in the park. So I'm calling myself a quadcopter parent. Paws crossed for good news from your dad. You'd probably hear if it wasn't good.
