Due to Sister's bloody diarrhea issues a few days back, I gave her s. boulardii and then added Blue Buffalo grain free dry (her pre-diabetes food) to the Dr. Elsey's turkey dry. It worked well enough. It is just temporary (mixing in a little BB). I did lots of reading about how Elsey's and Young Again are so rich that they can cause gastro issues until the pet adjusts.
By just making that public, I am throwing caution to the wind...

The Wet Food Argument with Sister each day continues...
How does she look??
Thanks!

Does she still have diarrhea? Her numbers look pretty good if she's getting some HC dry as well! Is she still getting it?
A quick change in food can cause GI issues in cats. Hasn't it been a while since Sister switched to them though?

My cats didn't get diarrhea from Elsey's and YA but I know of some that did long after they were switched. They are indeed very calorie dense and YA's literature says eating too much can cause diarrhea - not sure how true that is!

Some cats are much harder to transition to wet. I feel your pain! :bighug:

Thanks for your input. Really appreciate it.

She has not had diarrhea in 48 hours. :) She got a little HC mixed in with Elsley's and Epigen 90 (just ordered) this a.m.
But I am stopping HC today but continuing with the s. boulardii probiotic.

Yes, my records show the Elsey's came July 7 and I started sprinkling it on the wet food at first.
So I do not understand why she had issues late (unless it was the freeze dried chicken treats and the Origen beef treats which I have tossed).
Hugs,

Good to know the diarrhea stopped. If she has a delicate tummy, you may want to keep her on a maintenance dose of S. Boulardii.

If she's been on Elsey's since July 7th, it can't be that. Has she started YA recently?

My on line journal says I started Young Again June 17. I waited until I was testing BG because it is low carb.
(I mixed it with the prescribed Purina ProPlan DM dry which is gone now--my other cats loved that stuff.)
Sometime later (did not search my notes) I stopped the YA because of loose stools.
I do not feed it to her anymore.
I changed my Signature to reflect current food.
Thanks.
