Morning All... ~O)
Shadow is still cruising in her "unusual for her " numbers. Guess we have a new normal.
This is Day 304 at the falls. :thumbup

Her vet should be returning from maternity leave this coming week. I'm so glad we made it this last 3 months without needing the vet.
I've been waiting since I'd like Shadow's internal organs all palpitated. She doesn't really want me to touch her abdomen area and it's most likely Shadow being Shadow.
She has lots of rules of what I can and can't do.
If I put my hand on certain areas, she tries to kill my hand..... and you can't tell if it's playful, grumpy or some other reason.
She does love to set up a "cat trap" and lay on the floor, roll on her back and look inviting, and if you put her hand on her belly.... Gah!
See picture.....

She seems to have a very hard time getting up on her tall tower.... she waits for me to put her up there.... ( wants to eat her daytime foods there) and I have
noticed she isn't jumping up anywhere these days .
Her 6 month checkup should be on Nov 1 ( her 1 year otj anniversary) but I'm not likely to wait.
I know something isn't right with her but not getting any obvious symptoms....
just less play...
won't sit on her small tower next to me in living room ( runs away if I try to feed her there)
still sleeping on bathroom floor instead of with me ( so I am really ready for colder weather to see if that changes )

OT: nose seems to be returning to normal from that surgery.... but now Ragweed is going crazy. But I'm doing better than previous years with it.....
teeth got new crowns all finished ( only took them 6 weeks  )
DD is so far healthy with school year starting....
her fiancé had his first car accident.... hit the accelerator instead of brake and plowed into someone's garage door from a stop sign..... ( )
He needs lots more driving experience and it looks like we'll be the ones to give it to him (oh goody, since I just loved teaching my own kids to drive) since I want my
DD to be safe in the future.

oh... and my DH and I were woken up last night (3am) by odd barking .... thought someone's dog was running loose and being stalked by coyote(s) so he ran outside to try to intervene and turns out it was the coyote barking oddly in a strange pattern..... and he would shine his flashlight on it.... chase it down the street... repeat ....
I really hate the sounds they make when they kill something or the sound of a dog or cat getting nabbed.
If you can manage to chase them down, they will let go of the dog or cat and run away from you.

Prayers and feel good vines to all who need it....

Hi Rhiannon, Cute illustration of the tummy rub. Very accurate! I hope Shadow starts sleeping with you again. You'd think they would choose a bed over the bathroom floor, but cat's can be so strange. Have a good day!

Good to see a Shadow Caturday condo. :-D I hope the change of season changes her night time behaviour. Neko turns back into a lap cat when the weather gets cooler. One of the upsides to fall here.

Best of luck on the upcoming vetty appointment. I think I'd go a littler earlier than waiting the full year too. I think I'm spoiled on the organ manipulation thing. Neko loves having her tummy rubbed and Theo will usually accept it. I have to keep remembering when I see other people's kitties that the usual behaviour is bunny kicks. Shadow is completely normal that way.

Good news on the nose with the allergies and making things slightly easier to suffer through.

Hi Rhiannon,
Congratulation on the day 304 at the fall!!!
Way to go, Shadow!

I'm sorry you are worried she's not acting normal.
I hope it's nothing serious....
Could it be that Shadow's just getting into the senior years?
12 yr old is not that old, but I think is considered senior in cats age.
Lucy stopped jumping on stuff around that age too, so I set up a little kitty stairs by the sofa, bed, etc.
She doesn't seem to have arthritis, but just her leg muscles got a little weaker and she's not longer comfortable with jumping up/down much.
She used to balance very well on narrow surface, like my shoulder or back of a chair, but she no longer does that either.
Ginger, who played like a kitten for the longest time, also stopped being so playful about a year ago.
She is now 13, so around the same age as Shadow now.
She's still well and happy, but just stopped acting like a kitten.

I hope that her next checkup will go well, and you will find nothing wrong with her.

Oh yes on the tummy rub illustration. MC has such a cute orange belly and she rolls over and shows it to me all of the time. But I know better than to try and rub it or I get grabbed with claws out.

I hope everything goes well with Shadow's vetty visit. Maybe her behavior is just changing as she gets older. I hope it's nothing serious.

Loved the tummy pic   So true.
Sometimes Hoot will let me and sometimes not, but you better be watching him close or he'll shred ya. His nickname is Shredder
I hope everything goes well at the vet and she's just aging and ready for some cooler weather...like we all are
Have a good night Rhiannon :-D

I had been previously thinking (before dx) she was an old woman until I read here of cats that make it to 20 or later.....
especially the one that made it 38 years
In comparison 12 seems young....
but the cat age calculator says 12 for a cat is like 70 for a human......

I'd much rather her odd behaviours be age ....

We'll be seeing the dr soon just for reassurance ( even tho' they often miss so much )
