Re: 8/30 Mr.Cat AMPS 127 +4 84

Even if you're not quite ready for an OTJ trial, you are still looking good Mr. Cat! Keep it up and we shall see.

Remember, a late shot acts like a dose reduction, so the smidge higher AMPS was probably partially due to being a little late.

Re: 8/30 Mr.Cat AMPS 127 +4 84

Jess --

Mr. Cat is still looking very good. It's fine to wait until your next green pre-shot to start a trial. It's your call.

Re: 8/30 Mr.Cat AMPS 127 +4 84

Mr Cat is doing great Jess!! Remember, "normal" numbers for a diabetic cat are 50-130 so he's still in the ballpark! I'd bet the only reason was because of the late shot like Deb said

I think you're still looking good for the OTJ trial when you're ready, unless he goes a lot higher at a Pre-shot on .1

Love those green numbers

Re: 8/30 Mr.Cat AMPS 127 +4 84 +10 85 PMPS 88

Thanks for the support, everyone! I guess I was getting used to Mr.Cat's numbers staying under 100, so when he hit 127, I thought it could be a bad sign. But the rest of today went well. Whew!
I gave him his PM shot of .1U before reading this post. It sounds like some folks are suggesting that I try an OTJ trial if his next pre-shot is below 100 but others suggest that I wait one week on .1U first. A little confusing.
If I were to ask Mr. Cat whether or not we should start an OTJ trial, he would say YES. As soon as his numbers started staying consistently under 100, he became resistant to testing and shots. In the past, he would sit patiently on my lap, purring - the testing and shots didn't bother him one bit (my husband would joke that Mr.Cat somehow knew I was helping him). But lately, now that his numbers are consistently low, he hides from me during test time, or he tries to jump off my lap before testing/shot. It's like he's trying to tell me that he's done. Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but I wonder if Mr.Cat knows something I don't know!

If he were my cat, I'd probably hold the .1 for a week. Getting a strong remission is the goal! But you hold the syringe..he does look good, so it could go either way.

If he can go for 2 weeks without any insulin, he'd be considered a "diet controlled diabetic" and be OTJ..and we'd get to party!!

If his numbers creep back up, you'll just have to start back and try again, but sometimes, it can be harder the 2nd time to get them controlled again

Re: 8/31 Mr.Cat AMPS 95

Thanks! I'm going to keep giving him .1U until he reaches 1 week at that dose. I'd rather stay on the conservative side. He's doing so well!

Re: 8/31 Mr.Cat AMPS 95

Hi Jess! Mr. Cat sure is looking good - I can't advise on dose, but I just wanted to stop by & show my support! Keep up the good work!

Re: 8/31 Mr.Cat AMPS 95

Mr. Cat is getting close, but not yet ready for an OTJ trial in my opinion. I'd like to see him at the 0.1U dose for a full week before thinking about a trial.

Re: 8/31 Mr.Cat AMPS 95 +2 70 +6 88

Thanks for the support everyone! I agree with everyone who says that Mr.Cat should stay on .1U for a week before going to an OTJ trial. We'll keep going and see what happens! Fingers crossed and a big shout out to Elian who is sooooo close to his OTJ trial. Go Elian!
