Now this is just getting discouraging. Bear is still in good spirits but we can't seem to get these numbers down except once in a while!! Are we just stuck in a cycle of bounces? Could it be some kind of infection?

Hi Kimberly...here is the link to your last post: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=23566
How is your work schedule this week? It seems that some spot checks during the cycle would explain what is going on with Bear. I know that you realize that it's ideal to have 12/12 for the shots. I know also that sometimes that doesn't work with your work hours. <sigh> that is quite challenging...because without knowing what his numbers are, one cannot know if these reds are from a bounce after a low...

Are you able to get a before bed time check tonight...or other tests during the PM cycle as a rule during the week? Any numbers will be important data...

How is he acting? Anything unusual? Infection can raise BGs too...
Hopefully someone will come along who can check his SS and try to figure out what is going on.

There are probably a couple of factors that are effecting numbers. First, when you miss a shot, it depletes the shed. It can take a couple of cycles for the shed to be refilled. Until the shed is filled again, numbers may be wonky.

Second, Bear is bouncing. Every time he has numbers in the blues or greens, he bounces into the reds. It can take up to 72 hours for a bounce to clear. The only thing that will help is for Bear to spend more time in lower numbers so his liver doesn't keep panicking and dumping glucose and counterregulatory hormones into his bloodstream. When this happens, it drives numbers up.
