Good Morning/Afternoon Everybody!
Yesterday

I guess consistency is nothing to sneeze at, but still a little sad trombone. Getting greedy now, I suppose. Overnight is the only time she gets the dry now, so it makes sense--and she always was a little higher in the morning.

Dr.'s coming in an hour. Steeling myself for disapproving glares...

UPDATE: No disapproving glares. She was just so happy for Weebie.

I gave her more milksip than lastnight, less than yesterday in a Goldilocks dance.

UPDATE 2: Much better. One more test in 15. Have to leave. May give a bit more of the milksip just to be safe since I won't be here to stalk her...

does this mean you're starting an OTJ trial tonight?

Definitely. She seems to be letting me know in every way possible that she's ready--she threw up the tablespoon of Milksip I left for her while I was gone. The home vet thinks it's right, too. And she was fascinated by the whole .1 u thing--she even showed me where she wrote "seriously" next to the dosage in her chart. Ha!

Nervously excited! Should I test tonight and post the AMPS (-the S) in the morning? I'm going to hear the loudest drumroll ever as the meter counts down...

Re: 8/30 Weeble AMPS 140 +2.25 (46 PM) +3.5 (64) +7.5 (93)

congratulations!

Here's what you do:

Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).

If she is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If she is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3-4 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then her pancreas is working! (some cats will come down in 2-3 hours, others take as long as 4).

Post every day so we can monitor your progress and see if any tweaks are needed. It is not unusual for cats to get lots of blue during their trial, especially at first. Don't panic and don't shoot unless we tell you to.

After 14 days of no insulin, we have a party!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give her the support she needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

Good luck!

Congratulations!!!
Good luck Weeble...we are rooting for you!!
And when you post, your numbers at your old AMPS/PMPS times will NOW be called your AMBG/PMBG numbers. (PS stands for PreShot...and since you are no longer shooting, the number is the BG Blood Glucose number)
