105 AMPS - very likely ate within the two hours before testing. Was zooming around and woke me up for food at 3:30/+9 and in my sleepy state I gave a full pouch instead of 1/3 or 1/2 like I usually would for a ‘snack’. Bowl was nearly empty when I woke up for testing and he was sitting nearby.

Hi there @Sugar’s Mama
Just wanted to update you since you were watching my thread the other day about dosing small amounts. I used red food coloring in water in a syringe today and sat with it under a magnifying lamp for a good 15 mins - it really helped me to see the half way point between .5 and zero. I need get some reading glasses too just for this lol.

Oh, fun idea! Did you take pictures? My wife has magnifying glasses that have lights that she uses for the in-between doses! I am OK with the syringe back-lit so far but still have no idea what .25 and .1 vs a ‘drop’ would look like. Will practice this weekend to be prepared to hopefully get to try out those doses soon!

No pics, but maybe this weekend! A light under the syringe definitely helps me more than above it.
I need to work on .1 and a drop too. I think a good project would be to get pics of the different syringe brands with the different doses because the thickness of the stopper can make a difference in how it looks. I might do that one of these days…

I’ll try to get photos of the U-100’s if I feel like I have it ‘right’.

I think more then getting it ‘right’ is getting it consistent with my wife/whatever person you may have also dosing. As long as our version of ‘.1’ is the same each time, it will keep it consistent for your kitty.

For sure, consistency is the main thing!
I didn’t get the 1/2 unit syringes for about a week when we started him on insulin and I had no confidence that he was getting the same dose between the old syringes and the new ones. Definitely pays to get that sorted out right away!
