WCR: Most Ps in place. Appy wasn't great this afternoon...until I took her fuds away and then, all of a sudden, she gets hungry. In fact, +10 this afternoon, she started begging for fuds, so I got her a little FF Turkey & Giblets. Hence the icky PM pre shot number. She got her fluids tonight & I ended up giving her some Bupe because she just didn't look like she felt well. She did throw up at +5 tonight...just before I was going to give her Cerenia. @Tricia & Cinco - no doubt the lack of fluids didn't make for a happy Shasta. :(

@Amy&TrixieCat - I know I should write out our schedule and stick with it. I'm just not sure what our schedule really is. I'm supposed to be giving her fluids every day, but I've been doing every other day because she's always got a little pouch of fluids still hanging on her leg. As for the Cerenia/Ondansetron/ Bupe...I have no idea how often I ought to be giving it to her. The part that I hate the most is that my vet won't write a script for Ondansetron. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

I think you kind of have to experiment with the meds to see what works for Shasta. I only give Minka Bupe when it's clear to me that she's uncomfortable. I do give her Ondansetron every morning. The vet said I could give up to 4 mg, so I give her 2mg to start, and if she seems to still feel poorly after a couple of hours, I give her the other 2mg. Most days, the first dose is enough. I only break out the Cerenia when it seems the full dose of Ondansetron isn't working. BUT ECID - some kitties respond better to Cerenia. So, you have to see what combo helps your kitty.

Sending more healing and appy vines.

I'm not as familiar with Ondansetron, but for cerenia, if necessary, you can give her 4mg every 24 hours. With Trix, I give it to her every 36 hours because I find that works best for her - keeps her tummy stable without being overmedicated. I also did find with Trix that I was better off staying ahead of issues than waiting until she was symptomatic and then trying to treat - that always caused major backslides with her. You could try a very consistent dosing schedule for a week or so and see how she does, then start weaning it back a tad and again see how she does. That might help you tweak the right intervals for her. Cerenia is a good med, too...is there another vetty in the practice who might write a script for Ondansetron?

With the fluids, you are right that you don't want to give the next batch until the previous batch is fully absorbed. I can't remember...how much is she getting? Since it seems to take her more than 24 hours to absorb her fluids, and since you do work (and therefore can't do, say, 36 hour intervals), I wouldn't go any longer than 48 hours between fluids. OR, maybe she should be getting a smaller quantity so you can consistently do fluids every 24 hours.

These are just a couple ideas, and definitely some stuff to ask your vetty about.
