8/30 Merlin AM 84 (skip shot) PM 430 (1 unit) - normal???

Merlin just started Lantus 6 days ago, and I have been testing when I can, at the minimum before shots. I was wondering if the trend I am seeing is normal at all. And by trend, I really mean complete lack there of! I understand you are supposed to dose based not on preshot numbers with Lantus, but I don't have enough data yet to see how low he goes from starting numbers. But his numbers seem to be all over the place! Planning to do a curve this weekend.

Hello and welcome. I wonder if it might be better to try a 0.75 unit dose. It's easier at the beginning to start a little lower and work your way up in dose. If you are having to skip doses, then going a bit lower might help you shoot twice a day all the time.

It's not uncommon at the beginning for the numbers to seem to be all over the place. Getting that curve done and any random spot checks, including at night, will help fill in the picture. Learning the onset and nadir are key.

Hi and welcome to L&L. You are right that you don't have much data. Wendy beat me to it. I agree with her. I'm also wondering if you can get a before bed test as well.

thank you for the suggestions! I need to get the Wal-Mart meter and strips so I don't break the bank testing so frequently.

If you do get a Relion you get the strips even cheaper on eBay. Just make sure to pay attention to expiration dates.
