I'm sorry Checks has caught on to the cheese trick. I can't remember what all he is on, pill-wise, other than the tapazole. For that one, you can get it compounded into a transdermal gel that you just rub inside his ear. That's what I did for Mario with his HyperT, and it was just as effective as the pills. I've also heard that the transdermal gel can be easier on their system, because it bypasses the digestive tract. Drs Foster and Smith have the transdermal gel - they are quick to ship, and have the best prices of all the pet med compounding pharmacies that I found. Given Checks' back issues, something like this might be the least stressful and traumatic way to go...it's pretty much stress-free, although Mario was never happy with me when I had to clean his ears (the gel does build up, so periodic cleaning is necessary.)

Let's start heading the other way, Checkers!

Thanks Amy. I did discuss the gel with doc, and for now, we think the pill is more accurate dosage. My dd did the gel with her cat and was satisfied, so I'm not ruling it out.

I gave him a drop of R, to head off this rise. I hope it was the correct timing.
He should have started dropping at +4, and didn't, so am trying to not let him go up any more.
He's very thirsty today....I don't like that. He had nothing to eat that would account for it...no kibble, etc.

Hi Barb - sorry about the cheese! I've gotten really good at quickly "throwing" pills to the back of my kitties' throats and they usually swallow it. One time, it got stuck in Hector's mouth and he turned into a rabid, raving lunatic. It was so awful. I chased him around with water trying to get him to drink and he was like "get away from me!". Not a good memory...

So, is Checkers bouncing from the blues yesterday? I feel your pain. However, I don't think Bob is bouncing anymore, he's just staying high. :sad: Just keep on keepin' on...you are such a good mom...hope he comes down for you.

I hate to pill as well, but Tarragon is too smart for his own good so I have to every day twice a day. :? He is used to it now but still doesn't like it. Come on down Checkers!! I hope you have a great day Barb!! ((((Hugs))))

Dara, I always give Checks something wet, like tuna juice first, so the pill won't get stuck, than give it again immed after.
I tried the pill shooter contraption, but the pill wouldn't shoot out of it, for some reason.
He's used to fingers in his mouth, 'cause I clean his teeth with a piece of gauze.

Once time, I tried that with CLancy and he managed to snag it on his sharp little tooth.....and swallowed it!.
Trip to the vet, $$, and still had to *wait for it*...took 3 days to end up in litter box. :roll:

I hope Checkers keeps sliding down today. Sorry he caught on to the pill in the cheese. I can't remember if you've tried the pill pockets. Some of my cats like them and some don't.

I'm pleased with how today turned out. Hope he doesn't find out I have a self full of Gravy Lovers, he might decide to drop tonight.

Some FF Beef at +8 started him back up, but he felt good and was out of his cube and active, the whole day. :-D

Hi Barb! I too am sorry that Checks has gotten wise to the cheese trick . It happened with Mannie too. He caught onto all the tricks I had, those others passed on too. Darn cat! :lol: I just ended up with the old manual insertion : open wide and down the hatch.... I too had the same issue with the pill shooter.... These kitties are sometimes too smart for their own good. :-D I would attribute the increased water consumption to the higher BG's. Mannie's intake always went up when he hit the red floor....

It's nice to see Checers coming down. yay for yellow!!!!

I'm glad Checkers had a good day and the R seems to have worked well.

Clancy swallowed some gauze? Oh my.

I just put J.D.'s pills to the back of his throat. When I have small split pills with sharpish edges I wrap them all up together in a bit of pill pocket and put it in the back of his throat. Follow with a bit of food or treats.

Today's activity (walking around the house :lol: ), seems to have caught up with him. I barely got him to eat a little, in order to shoot, then back to sleep he went.

So frustrating with the pilling! I have never mastered the art. Is that a pill you can crush and put into food?

You are getting good with giving the R. Congrats!

Checkers, come back down off of that pink floor.
