Well, I'd say Trixie's pre-shots sure have come down! I hadn't shot that low in a little over a month...it was a bit of a nailbite_smile , but I know I had to do it. I'm hoping she just starts surfing now...usually she does after +2, but one never knows for sure.

Zen ate a pretty decent breakfast this morning, and is defnitely behaving in a much more Zen-like manner overall. I'll have to try and get his "peek-a-boo" game on video, although it might not have quite the same effect. He's a very funny, interactive cat. He also often hunts "mice" and drops them directly on our feet - usually when we're cooking dinner. When we toss them for him, he attempts to catch them in his mouth (If a toy is light enough, he can actually do it), then brings them right back to our feet. No word from the vet yet on his bloodwork...hopefully today. If I don't hear by the afternoon, I'll be calling them.

Trixie is looking really nice and green! Sending good vines for Zen and the bloodwork. For a minute I thought we were talking about a real mouse dropping at your feet! :lol: Maggie loves those little furry catnip mouses. Have a nice day.

Great to hear Zen more himself, and great pic, what a couple of cuties :-D

Logan's the "fetcher" here. He'll actually drop the toy at your feet and cry until you throw it :lol:
He retains "cat" status by making sure HE decides when the game is over :lol:

Trixie has been a busy girl this morning already! What nice numbers for her!

It is so good to hear that Zen ate a good breffis and is acting like himself again somewhat. Hope you hear on the bloodwork soon! Have a great day Amy!

Trix is looking good this morning! Normally I wouldn't do this, but I did give her a little HC at +4, even though she was at a lovely 69. I had to leave for work, and it had only been an hour since the 46; I was concerned that the previous HC would wear off and she'd drop too low. Hopefully I won't regret that...I'd hate to see a really big spike. I'll be able to go home and check her around lunchtime.

Seeing her +7, I'm glad I gave her that little bit of HC ad +4. I gave her a little LC after her test, which - at this point - should keep her surfing safe numbers till PMPS. I am very curious to see what she has in mind for this evening!

Trixie's PMPS is 57...do you think I should shoot? I did shoot a 59 once before, when she was on .75U. Tonight, it would be 1.0U. I'd hate to skip, and I am around to monitor. Yikes...I'm not used to shooting all these greens again!

I'm planning on shooting, but I guess I'm looking for reinforcemet.

Shot time is 5:45 EST...

I busted out my BOS and shot nailbite_smile ...Actually, I'm not too nervous. Got lots of strips, lots of gravy, and lots of time. When I shot the 59, she ended up surfing the 70s...hopefully, we'll see the same tonight. It's now officially 24+ hours of green!

I finally spoke to the vet about Zen's bloodwork. Things indicate an infection of some sort (arleady knew that!), and he was deydrated (also knew that!). His neutrophils, eosinophils, and WBC were all high. Nothing indicated a UTI (phew - UTIs really scare me!). Of course I forgot to ask if the ran an fPLI or about the possibility of pancreatitis, although I don't think it seems likely, since he was snuffly when he stopped eating and he didn't object to her poking and prodding his abdomen. Anyway, she initially wanted to start him on antibiotics, but since he's improved significantly - eating and just about back to his normal activity level - she said we can hold off and observe. We've had URIs here before...I'm pretty used to them and I rarely go to the vet for them anymore, unless something like this not eating thing happens.

All of his other values were completely normal.

So, that's where we're at. I'm still a bit nervous about him, but he did have a decent dinner, did paw at me while I was testing Trix, and attempted to grab her tail just as I poked her ear (yikes!!).

Gotta run to the market for a few things before +1 rolls around. Fingers crossed we have a low-key evening!!!

Has anyone mentioned L-Lysine for Zen? Glad he's feeling better.

Not quite what I wanted to see for +1...I was hoping for something a little higher. Since she has nothing to prove tonight, I gave her a teaspoon of HC. Looks like a long-n-pokey night is head of us after all!

Actually, the vet did give us a funky cat version of lysine...it's a paste that you pump into a syringe, then syringe it in. Admittedly, we haven't started it yet, even though I know we should have. I was not wanting to add any additional stress, what with doing a few meals of assisted feeding and all that. But now that he's seems to be improving, I think we'll starte the lysine tonight.

Jill recommended this brand of L-lysine when Gabby was sneezy. It's a powder and you mix 1/8 teaspoon twice a day into food.

Glad that there was nothing unexpected in the report for Zen and that he continues to improve. Quite the day for Miss Trixie... congrats on the dosecrease, and nice shootin!!

I give Willie this brand of l-lysine, which is also a powder that you put in the food. Dissolves easily and Willie tolerates it very well!

Thanks, Bonnie! I should find a better picture of him...I just grabbed that one real fast this morning. He's got gorgeous big round eyes and a very innocent expression to his face.

All of the LL thoughts and prayers for Zen have been greatly appreciated!

Way to go Trixie! She has really had great numbers. She must be wearing off on Tarragon!

So good to hear that Zen is feeling even better and that the bloodwork came back fine. My vet trys to tell me that cats don't ever just get "under the weather" like humans. I don't believe it. Maybe that is all it was. Still thinking about you and Zen. Hope he continues to get better. Extra scritches to all your babies.

Hi guys, We are happy to hear that Zen is feeling better and doesn't have a terrible infection. Rusty gets the health-food store capsules of L-lysine (the powder emptied out and the contents of half a capsule mixed into his food twice a day). I think it works pretty well. I don't give it as often as I should (Rusty seems to have a chronic upper respiratory condition), but when I do he doesn't sneeze and snuff as much.

Trixie, those are awesome numbers today! Amy, I hope you have lots of strips tonight!!
