Yesterday's Condo

Morning LL! ~O) I still go :o :shock: :o in the morning when I get these tests in, until I wake up enough to remember we have no insulin on board. :lol: I left a snack in her feeder for what would have been PM +9 last night, so this test was 3 hours after food. :mrgreen:

The girls must have slept the 2 days I was gone, cause they were WILD when I got home yesterday. Nikki still hasn't quite figured out how to play nicely. I think Dee was wishing I would leave again! :lol:

Wow Nikki's mum! I was freaking for you until I looked at SS and see OTJ! .......Amazing! And I even see a 26 .......but, as you say, no insulin on board - what a relief! Hope you are enjoying your "new" life! Have a great weekend!

Wellll, we're in OTJ limbo at the moment! :lol: I was hoping to ease her doses down and do a trial but apparently she decided to start on her own! :o Imagine, a cat not reading the rule book! :lol: ohmygod_smile

That 26 totally freaked me out too! Her depot should be just about done, so we'll see where she wants to go! Right now she's just showing off. :roll: :lol:

I think Nikki decided she was DONE! Numbers in the 30s with no insulin for 3.5 days, IMHO is an OTJ trial. In fact, it looks like Day 3 of an OTJ trial. Here are the instructions:

  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).
  • If your cat is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!
  • After 2 weeks, if everything is looking good, we have a party!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support he needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

Nikki is such a good girl!!! She doesn't want to stress her mom no more. She needs to come on down to the beach and have a nice long chat with ol' Bob.

:lol: Nikki ,as always, made her point rather emphatically yesterday! I should have known she wouldn't follow the program the way I wanted! :lol:
