8/3 Mona AMBG-105 OTJ Trial? - Advice Please!

I'd like advice on whether or not I should put Mona back on a drop of insulin for a few more cycles and then restart the OTJ trial.

Recap: At the very end of last week we switched our dog to a new kind of kibble and Mona decided that it was new food for her, too. We only realized this after she'd been snacking on kibble all Thursday night and into the morning, and we put it in a place the next night that they figured out how to get access to again (darn those crafty cats!), so she ate more on Friday night, too. Both times her BG had dropped significantly by +3 (after being fed her normal food and no dog food), but she was high again last night without extra food, and though she was in the normal range this morning, it's definitely higher than it's been.

Should I wait it out and see if she dips down again? Or give her some insulin assistance? Argh! I really didn't anticipate this stupid complication. At least the dog is on a grain-free, ultra-high-protein kibble for all his allergies...
 
One of the experts will reply but you are still in normal numbers even with the contraband food. I've seen cats on a trial have blue numbers and they were told not to panic. Good luck.
 
Don't grab that syringe just yet ;-)

Let's see what she does today. Kibble can take some time to get out of their systems. She has a better AMPS. I'd do a test 3 hours after she ate and see where she is.
 
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm at work today (in the office Mon-Wed) and can't test until +9 today. That'll be three hours after her midday meal, but we won't know what the +6 BG was to compare to. Unfortunately I won't get to take a +3 reading until Thursday when I work from home again. :(

Does that change anything? I know the numbers are still good, but I just want this remission to STICK! :)
 
Nah it doesn't change anything. You can test tonight and three hours after she eats right?

Let's do that before we jump the gun.
 
I agree with Marje -- I'd give this a little more time for the kibble to work it's way out of Mona's system. Even with the kibble on board, her numbers aren't bad so I'd suggest sitting on your hands.
 
My daughter has a book about potty training that starts out with "If you ever get that funny feeling, don't fret! Don't panic!" We always get really dramatic with the "don't fret, don't panic!" part. Obviously I needed someone to act that out for me today. Thanks for doing it!

i hope you'll post tonight and let us know how she is. got my fingers crossed for both of you that mr greenie is going to be back in your house. :mrgreen:
