We're OK. Cell towers weren't in operation most of yesterday and power was just restored. I'm glad I got a chance to post yesterday because very soon after logging off, our power went out. Compared to most folks around here, we're some of the more fortunate. Area got hit very had, but our actual home was spared. Gus is doing awesome, napping in a sunny spot, tummy full. He goes back to for a recheck on his blood in urine situation tomorrow, early. As late as yesterday, I saw he had rosy colored urine. Today it looks light yellow. I know there can be microscopic blood, but just the color of urine is so much different in a day. This has happened back and forth over the past 3 weeks. He's been on Baytril all that time, so if there was any infection causing the initial blood, it's gone now. His numbers also bear out the fact that he isn't showing any signs of infection. Cancer of the bladder or kidney is always a possibility. Also, stress cystitis. Gus is THE most laid back dude on four paws! I doubt that one. He continues to get Dasuquin at AM and PM feeding time. Anyone out there have any ideas...Welcome all info. Think I'll get myself outside for some fresh air and get my mind off it. Thanks for all the good vibes sent our way during the storm.

Glad to hear that you got electric back and everything is relatively ok.

Good luck with the vetty visit tomorrow. At least the color is changing. Sending you healing vines and good thoughts that it is all cleared up.

Have a great day Bev!

Gus' condo from 8/28

Great number to start out the day for Gus. Glad you're safe and sound.

One member suggested putting a paper towel under your kitty when he is urinating. It's an easy way to see if there's blood in the urine. It probably won't be good for microscopic amounts but it is a way to make eyeballing the litter box a bit easier.

hi bev! glad to hear you and your menagerie survived the hurricane. perhaps you could get 8 matching little kitty t-shirts that say "i survived irene!"

i don't know anything about the bladder question - praying it's not cancer. you might put "bladder q's?" in your subject line so that those with experience on it can stop in. it'll get more eyes on your concern.

hope he gets a clean bill of health from the vet tomorrow. hugs.

Re: 8-29 Gus AMPS 140

Hi Bev,
So glad to see that you and your family are ok. And that Gus is hanging in there too.

i have an elderly kitty - certainly not acro but CRF. She never really proved a UTI at all but wound up having blood in her urine. WE wound up having her on an extended course of ABX. WE also increased her routine of getting fluids. I know Gus isn't getting fluids now but just wondering if perhaps if the blood persists if maybe some fluids would help to flush some of that out. It seemed between the 2 things that's what helped to finally clear Nellie's urine.

Sorry didn't mean to ramble on - just hoping things will get better for your boy!

Awesome AMPS for Gus!! I sure hope everything turns up okay for him at the vet!! Champ has had two bouts of cystitis...once when my house was up for sale and another during the actual move, but he can be a bit skittish when change is afoot!! I'll be thinking about you two until I hear the good news that everything is a-ok. :-D So glad you survived the storm!!!

Re: 8-29 Gus AMPS 140

Wow Gus is looking good. I hope things go well with the recheck.

Also so glad to hear you all survived just fine except for loss of power....which can be a big deal so glad it was short.

Re: 8-29 Gus AMPS 140

Hi guys .. very nice start to the day for gus .. so glad to hear you were all safe during the storm .. sorry to hear about the rest of your town not doing so well .. No advice for the bladder problems from me, but will be keeping you in our thoughts during the vet visit ..

Gus has a very good reaction to HC. A few nights back, I gave him .75 ounce and it got him immediately out of the 'oh my gosh' zone and into a comfortable blue. I'm stalling him for the PM insulin. He's had a small amount of LC and is napping. He should begin to climb out of the greens and into the blues soon. Who knew!
