Re: 8/29: Cedric amps 231
You mentioned the Vet said he wants him to eat 2 large meals a day instead of several small ones. That doesn't make sense to me. Human diabetics are always told to eat several small meals, to keep their BG stable. Why would it be any different with cats?
This is just my normal curiosity, I don't understand that. Would you ask him what the difference is, next time you talk to him, I'd really like to know what the reasoning is behind that.
As a diabetic, we're taught to eat small meals often, the intent is to have flat cycles, without the spikes and lows. Food always causes an increase, smaller meals, smaller increase. To only have 2 large meals would cause large spikes twice a day and possibly get too low in the middle. Of course that means proper, low carb food, either way. A candy bar will cause me to spike no matter how small.
Like I said, I'd really like to know if this isn't true with cats.
Cedric may not be as low as you would like, but he's below renal threshold and that's always a good thing. Take your blessings where you can get them, a wise lady once told me.
