Hurricane Irene Morning. Stay safe everyone!

Rusty is keeping up there with the hurricane!! This morning I fattened his dose to a fat 1 unit. I don't want him wallowing in these higher numbers. I didn't smell insulin and I hope the shot went in. Rusty had a good breakfast with 1/4 tsp. of L-lysine added to his Wellness Turkey. We had a good brushing and he is now lounging on the coffee table, watching the hurricane in NYC on TV.

This morning NYC will be in the eye of the storm and there is bad flooding there. The arrival of the storm coincides with high tide. Here it started to rain about 2 hours ago and is now raining hard, but not much wind yet. I doubt that we'll even go outside today. I hope that my friend will be able to get home to NYC tomorrow. She is really worried about her apartment and her kitty.

We are thinking about all of you who are in the path of the storm and hoping that all will be OK. Continuing to send healing vines to all kitties in need.

We send our deep sympathy to Susan and Kevin, who lost their Tiberious yesterday. He's flying free now, is at the Bridge, and being welcomed by all of our GAs.

Re: 8/28 Rusty AMPS 193

Good morning, Ella. Beautiful AMPS for Rusty this morning, and I hope that he'll come down a bit for you today.

PLEASE stay safe. {{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}} I'm also watching the hurricane on the news, and from they're saying, it's about 1 hour away from NYC right now. I've never seen that city so desolate before. It's so unusual for NY as it's always a busy city no matter the day of the week.

Re: 8/28 Rusty AMPS 193

Hi Ella, hoping you don't get too much rain and wind from Irene. I've been watching TV all night, on and off, and unreal to see NYC streets empty. Was your friend's kitty left with someone? Sending some vines for her and kitty. Good luck with the fattened dose. Maggie got a fattened one, too. Stay safe and scritches to Rusty. Nice to hear he likes TV! :-D

Re: 8/28 Rusty AMPS 193

Hi Ella,

I hope the "fat" on the 1 unit gets Rusty back down to better numbers. Stay safe and stay dry....hoping Irene doesn't cause too many problems. Seems strange to be here in FL, watching a hurricane in NY! ;-)

Re: 8/28 Rusty AMPS 193

Hey Rusty dude......here ya have to lose some weight too. Maybe I can come up and visit ya and we can do Kitty Bootcamp together. Maybe we can get your bean to throw some chicken freezed dried treats to chase down. My bean is kinda stingy with them....she makes them oh so small......more mouse size than kitty size....And I'll bring all my playtoys to share.....I've got lots.....We can take turns....that's what Sid and I do.....I'll play and rest....then she'll play and rest....See ya in a bit.... ~Curry

Hi Ella,
Hope you guys don't get too much rain there.....Just enough to give the good ole Earth a drink, eh? And yay on getting a scale for Rusty. I use it for both kitties. Curry is stuck at 9 lb and 12 oz right now. Vet said she could lose that extra 12 oz if possible.....that may or may not happen but at least I can keep her from gaining that extra weight she was carrying....almost 3 lbs about 1.5 years ago......

And I snagged Edward's bread recipe....Will have to try that out when it gets a bit cooler out......Yesterday was 109 and today its forcasted to get to 108.

Take care,

Tena and Curry

Re: 8/28 Rusty AMPS 193

I hope the fattened dose bring Rusty back down. Keeping everyone in Irene's way in our thoughts. I hope your friend's poor kitty is with someone to comfort her.

Ella, I've been enjoying the Am. Pro Cycling Challenge a lot more (I think that's what it's called, not exactly a catchy name like Coors Classic or Red Zinger.) I don't believe they moved the Vuelta to the August heat for more tourist appeal. Too soon after the TdF too, no wonder all the big names are in Colorado.

Re: 8/28 Rusty AMPS 193

Good luck with the fattened dose. I hope you enjoy your day inside with Rusty!!!

Also hope the basement does not flood....Tobey is feeling particularly lazy but he said if his Auntie Ellabean needs him....he'll get up and out!!

Re: 8/28 Rusty AMPS 193

Hi guys - good luck with the new dose for Rusty. I hope all is well there, that the hurricane is not affecting you too badly. I have been hearing alot about the threat of flooding - it is so unfortunate that the storm surge coincides with a high tide. Well, we are thinking of all that will be affected. I hope your friend will be able to get back safely...

Rusty - you off to boot camp with Curry? can i come too? my bean says I need to lose a couple of pounds, and well.... it is not happening, ya know? Maybe you guys could teach me how to play... HEY - how is that hurricane? is it scary?? See you soon - we need some sun today! ~~ Mannie

Hi Everyone,
Finally back online after power outages for most of the day and evening. We have some very bad flooding up here and many trees down. Our immediate area is OK, however, and our basement remained DRY (Tobey, thanks for offering to come and bail!). I was keeping an eye on the insulin all day, but never needed to put it into a cooler. Tonight's shot may have been a "skinny" fat 1 unit (it was hard to measure in the almost-dark kitchen, even with a flashlight). Rusty hasn't had any energy all day and has spent most of it sleeping. It could be the hurricane, and maybe the disruption of having a houseguest, or maybe the fattened dose. He's just chillin' out until things return to normal. I hope my friend can get home to NYC tomorrow. We had about 10 inches of rain here, maybe more, and it was very windy. The city seems to be OK, it's just the getting there on the bus that might be tricky (but fortunately the bus doesn't leave until the late morning, so that will give the flooded areas more time to return to normal). My friend's poor kitty has been by himself since early Friday morning.

I hope all is well in LL. Couldn't get to condos today. Every time the power came back on, it went off again within 2 or 3 minutes.

Ni ni, and thanks for visiting us,

Ella & Rusty

Kudos to you for even beginning to measure a dose in the dark. oh boy... I hope your power will be back on soon. Good luck to your friend - I am sure all will be OK, but do understand how worried she must be.

have a good evening guys. Rusty you be good, and take care of your beans.
