seriously?

this is the biggest bounce EVER and he didn't go that low this time.Highest number he's ever given me. I guess it's vet visit time when we get back from the horse show next week. Dammit. I can't figure out what is going on.

half eaten large mouse at the top of the stairs this morning..... a sugar mouse??? who knows. Rupert seems totally BEBT and unphased as usual. ate all his breakfast, has had a +2 snack and now is playing with his 'nanner' on the kitchen floor. Grrr. I am at a loss as to what to dose him whilst we are gone. We leave in two days, I hope he's giving me something sane by then... if not I guess we'll just reduce to 1.75 or 1.5 and hope he doesn't stay in the 500's for two days.

so so so so so so frustrated. I thought we were winning this battle there for a little while.

Hi guys .. boy, those numbers sure are hard to look at .. I know you are feeling frustrated .. mocha hit a few black numbers as well and I felt totally defeated .. but we continued on, and you will too .. I have no dosing advice so I'll just tell you to hang in there ... ((hugs))

Re: 8/28 Rupert AMPS 585, +2 523

Pip, is it possible Rupert gets into high carb/sugar stuff in the barn(s)? I don't know what horses eat.

Do you have stray neighbor kids that could be giving sugar cubes etc, to the horse(s)?

"Sugar Mouse" Bahahahahaha!!!

Re: 8/28 Rupert AMPS 585, +2 523

No, there isn't anything in the barn that he'd want to eat, and even if he did the horses are all on a low sugar feed anyway! (I doubt he'd like hay, alfalfa or high fibre grain pellets ...all of which is in the feed room and the bags of pelleted feed are in an old freezerO.... we do feed the raccoons dry dog food but they get fed at 6 every night and they eat up every crumb before I head up to the house..

neighbours hate all animals (!) so no cats/dogs etc there, people behind us their dog died earlier this year, people next to them..dog people... and very barky aggressive to cats type dog. We have an 8 foot high chain link fence around our place although Rupert can get out, it's a bit of an effort. Other side of us is an 80 acre cow farm.

now... if the mouse that he ate had eaten something somewhere... who knows? grasping at straws.

sometimes I wonder about the low carb food and if perhaps it's too low and his body is just becoming a 'sugar' manufacturer all on it's own. I just don't get how it can generate that much sugar when there is barely any 'fuel' going IN to the system. Makes me wonder if the body would be happier with higher carbs and then it wouldn't panic so much. On the other hand, I wonder if I shouldn't do the chicken thing with him too, no tinned food at all, just boiled chicken. I"m sure he'd like that (not!)... and of course there are four other cats here to feed as well. would be seriously expensive (and ironic given that Stu is totally vegetarian and I"m not eating that much meat myself either - cats would be getting the primo stuf and we are on mac and cheese!... which I guess is what they expect anyway!).

Hi Pip, I feel your pain!! And before a trip, argh!! I wish I knew enough to have words of widsom for you; we are just hoping he gives you the numbers you need so you can take your trip without worry. C'mon Rupert! Give your bean a break, buddy!

Do you think Rupert and Reuben are secretly meeting behind our backs and egging each other on??

Good Luck Pip, we're over here rooting for you guys!

Re: 8/28 Rupert AMPS 585, +2 523

thanx Alexa. Luckily this trip is only thurday night, friday and then back Saturday night so he'll be fine either way... its the big one for US Nationals that's worrying me a tad, 8 days of high numbers surely will not do him any good. would be nice to get a run of greens before we go so that even if he does zip up, at least he'll have had a bit of a break!

Re: 8/28 Rupert AMPS 585, +2 523

Pip, I hope I didn't give you the impression that Checkers eats boiled chicken for a meal. It's only a treat.
Chicken alone isn't nutritionally sound.
He eats Fancy Feast low carb or Wellness Turkey for meals.

The chicken is just a treat after ear pokes. He doesn't like the freeze dried chicken that many here, give.

Re: 8/28 Rupert AMPS 585, +2 523

ah, I get ya! I've been doing the 'Dukan Diet' so boiled chicken (straight protein) works for me! tee hee. Rupie likes the dried chicken treats although prefers a nice bit of raw filet mignon of course!!!

Ouch!!! Rupert, you are really trying your mamabean's patience. You've got an industrial set of springs underneath that trampoline you like playing on. It's hard to believe he's getting into high carb food if he is also getting into greens. Any chance his nadir has moved and he went lower later in the night? More grasping at straws here.

Where is the show this weekend? Which horsies? Sounds like a couple of days away from testing will be good for you.

Re: 8/28 Rupert AMPS 585, +2 523 +6 446

so, still pink tonight but hopefully some action later on. We have a dinner date with some old (literally!) friends so we should be home by 9ish!

Wendy: show is in Cloverdale (Langley).. it's the Western Canadian Breeders Championships.. taking Harvey and Ro. will be there Thursday night and back home Saturday night.

good question re the Nadir, maybe he did go super low later on... so hard to tell.

 RUPERT!!!! What is this all about?! Come back down, handsome! We miss your sweet face down here in the yellows and blues and greens! We expect to see you back down here soon. Ok?! Take care of yourself and your bean!

Good night, Deborah & Shasta

it's just a bounce. i understand the feeling though - punkin gave me a 556 day before yesterday and it makes ya feel sick. it just looks like your bouncy boy is bouncing from the greens last night. hopefully he'll clear it quickly.

have a great time on your trip!
