Yesterday, flat cat in the house. Not listening to Auntie Elise either.

8/27 Recap:
AMPS 103 +3 237+9 153
PMPS 142 +3 164 +9 153

Yesterday I muttered something about doses, but I want to see where this flat blue goes first. That +9 was a bit early last night. My body has gotten used to getting up at 4:30 and I was wide awake. Ugh! This week and next we don't have early morning rowing and I was hoping for sleep. Neko didn't bother coming in the house so I did the test in the solarium with the flashlight.

I'm still waiting for the final verdict on the new LB. She did use it again last night, but this morning she used a pepper pot in the solarium. Not my favorite spot she goes, but she's done that for years. It's the only indoor real dirt. On the upside, well two upsides, I got a ketone test in and realized she has no problem jumping up 14 inches. I've haven't seen her jump much lately but I guess it's by her own choice.

Vines to all kitties and beans in need. Just two days to the long weekend.

Re: 8/28 Neko AMPS 158

do you get a long weekend in Canada too? Labor day is a mixed holiday for me, always good to have a day off but it means the official end of summer too.

perhaps the threat of a dose increase will make Neko come down from that flat blue - although that's a nice range to get stuck in!

Re: 8/28 Neko AMPS 158

Aha! Now I know who Cinco is hanging out with! China abandoned him yesterday to hop in the lagoon, and I was wondering why Cinco didn't follow. He must have been conspiring with Neko! Flat blue all day yesterday, and more of the same today. Well, as Julie indicated, there are worse places they could be lounging!

I chuckled at the image of your testing Neko by flashlight in the solarium. I am always amazed at people who say how their kitty comes running to their "testing spot". Cinco's testing spot is wherever he is when it's time to test, and I often find myself practically hanging upside down to get it done - especially while he's in the e-collar. I'm glad I'm not the only one whose kitty is in charge!

So you went to all the trouble to get a lower entrance lb for Neko and she demonstrated she has no problem with one that is 14 inches high (okay, so it wasn't actually an lb - to you)!? Sounds like a cat to me!

Re: 8/28 Neko AMPS 158 +5 272

Bleck - I'm reminded why I seldom get +5 tests. This is just before onset so her highest part of the cycle. I'm really tempted to add just a tiny bit to her dose to try to get rid of these high yellows.

@Julie - In Canada the holiday is called Labour Day. ;-) I too feel it's a mixed blessing, but it's an odd year as teachers are on strike/locked out here so who knows if school starts next week. Not great for our rowing club high school rowing program.

@Tricia - Flat blue would be fine if she didn't keep hiking up Mt. Huangshan (Yellow Mountain in China, I've actually done the hike). It's pretty up there, but I'd rather she spend less time over renal threshold. She was rocking the juice early July and I'm greedy. We do have a testing spot but it's used about half the time. This last test was also the solarium. Yup, she's in charge!

Re: 8/28 Neko AMPS 158 +5 272

I hope Neko gives you more nice blues tonight. It's nice to know Neko can jump if she wants to.

Re: 8/28 Neko AMPS 158 +5 272

Well, drat on that yellow. You'd better turn that around Neko or your bean will start talking dosecrease, you know how twitchy she can be. Not as bad as auntie Marje, but bad enough.

why have extra vowels when they don't do any work?! ;-)

i hadn't heard of the teacher's strike! that would make an interesting start of the year. after our staff day yesterday, i can understand going on strike. we had the most touchy-feely morning ever. in an effort to help the staff bond and have empathy for our students' lives, we had LOTS of time to share "our stories." Walk over to that line if you answer yes to the following question. Look to see who is with you and who is not.

Has your family been affected by drug addictions? alcoholism? suicide? have you ever been lonely? were your parents divorced? have you ever been chosen last for a team, or not chosen at all? have you ever ridden on a plane? are you a republican? democrat? middle class? working class? upper class? do you own your own car? have you ever traveled to another country? have you ever been pressured to do something and then regreted doing it? and on and on for probably a half hour.

it was an event that was worthy of striking. i'm still feeling scarred from it!

we have a new 28yr old principal and i think he's trying very (too?) hard.

allrighty neko - back to business, little girl!

Re: 8/28 Neko PMPS 169 - barely eating

+10 203 PMPS 169
So she got a dosecrease, too much time spent in yellow lately. Fortunately just a small dosecrease. After +1 she wanted out, she often does for bug hunting. I heard the sound of pukus and sure enough when I went to bring her in, there was a hairball and part of her dinner. I gave her some coconut oil which she eagerly ate. Then Otto chimed +2 and no interest. :o First time in forever that Neko hasn't dived into her food. And tonight is kangaroo. I broke out some Wellness Turkey/Salmon for something completely different and got her to eat a couple tsp. But there's still food in the dish. Why does this happen the night of a dosecrease?

@Carla, Liz, Julie - Thanks for stopping by this afternoon. Not sure what tonight is going to look like. nailbite_smile
@Julie - Biggest issue of the strike is class size/composition. Classes are getting bigger and getting lots of special needs kids in each class. Your staff day sounds scary. A 28 year old principal? Don't think that would happen here.

Re: 8/28 Neko PMPS 169 - barely eating

I hope she's ok. Do you think she could have gotten a bug? Gracie did one night and she threw up and wouldn't eat. I had to give her ondansetron and cerenia. It took a few hours for her to do better....and, of course, her numbers came down.

Paws crossed she eats and stays flat.

Re: 8/28 Neko PMPS 169 - barely eating

Sending tons and tons of appetite vines for Neko. Hope she is okay :YMHUG: Thank you for your support and informative visit to Tiger's condo, it is so very much appreciated. I have my houseful of company right now, my nephews wedding is this weekebd. But i wanted to thank you for being there, and mainly sending prayers for Neko and you.

Re: 8/28 Neko PMPS 169 +3 242 - barely eating

Normally I wouldn't be happy to see that +3, but tonight I am. Thanks for the eating vines. She ate a bit of pill pocket with a Pepcid in it, we'll see if that does anything. And ate her FD chicken treat. She was sniffing her food, taking a lick, then stopping. This morning there was a small hairball pukus on the floor but I don't know who did it. Of course, Theo usually aims for carpet. There was a decent sized hairball this evening too. And she's acting a little grumpy when I picked her up and put her down so she's feeling off.

Marje - I don't have any drugs around to help cats eat. This is Neko we're talking about - an eating machine all her life. She could have gotten a bug, but it would likely be a moth or flying ant and she's had those plenty of times before. But she was mostly just sitting on the lawn. I had checked on her a couple of times and she wasn't moving, just watching the world.

I got some purrs and she ate the equivalent of about 1/2 her meal in canned food. Still sticking her nose up at the kangaroo.

Re: 8/28 Neko PMPS 169 +3 242 - barely eating

Did Neko conspire with Max and decide to worry us by not wanting to eat? Come on Neko, not now.

How big is class size there? When I taught class size never meant much when it came to me. Others would have way less. One year I took one lousy day off at the beginning of the year and got a call from a friend informing me that I was getting a new student. I said, impossible as I am already over the maxiumum Well, it happened. The principal could get away with it because they only checked the average class size. I never went under.

Yo Neko,
How's your appetite this morning? I'm going to make you a yummy breakfast burrito: eggs and grilled chicken in a nip wrap. Hope you're feeling more like yourself today.
