Good morning!

Yesterday's condo

8/27 AMPS=119; +2=113; +8.5=124
8/27 PMPS=128; +2=148; +5=203

8/28 AMPS=155; +2=148; +9=119
8/28 PMPS=117; +2=104

Lucy isn't feeling so well this morning.....
Her number crept up to yellow last night.
She came down to blue this morning, but still high for her.
She pooped this morning after not pooping all day yesterday, and it was part solid and part liquipoo.
In the past, metronidazole has worked after one or two doses, and she had her 6th pill this morning, so I'm starting to really worry...
She still ate for me with some encouragement, so I'm holding on to this one good thing.

I don't know what's wrong.
I want to do something to help her but I don't want to risk making things worse by trying different things like different food or probiotic.
Lucy has a super-sensitive tummy...

I hope everyone's having a nice day!

Re: 8/28 Lucy AMPS=155 // not feeling well again

Hi guys .. well, that is a nice start to the day number wise .. I'm sorry to hear that Lucy isn't feeling well .. Mocha has been having just a little bit of liquipoo as well, which is unusual for her .. I wonder if there is something going around? Have a great day, and feel better lucy!

Re: 8/28 Lucy AMPS=155 // not feeling well again

A probiotic shouldn't cause any problems. You can always call your vet and see what s/he thinks about trying that. FWIW, Gabby went though a period where she had bouts of diarrhea. I'd give her metrornidazole for a week or two, it would get better and then the same thing would repeat. After several episodes, the vet had me put her on the AB for a month. That finally cleared things up.

Re: 8/28 Lucy AMPS=155 // not feeling well again

Sorry to hear Lucy is feeling yucky  At least she is still eating. Hope Lucy gets feeling better soon :YMHUG:

Re: 8/28 Lucy AMPS=155 // not feeling well again

Sienne,
That happened to Lucy too!
Earlier this year, she had diarrhea, and it cleared as soon as she was put on metronidazaole, but diarrhea came back as soon as she's off metronidazole.
We went on/off metronidazole 3 times that time.
That's when she was finally re-dx'd with diabetes.
She got better when I started insulin and acupuncture.....
What AB was Gabby on?

Re: 8/28 Lucy AMPS=155 // not feeling well again

Awww...I'm sorry about Lucy not feeling well. I hate worrying about my kitties! Seems like there is always something. I'll say a prayer today that she gets feeling better soon!

Re: 8/28 Lucy AMPS=155 // not feeling well again

I hope Lucy feels better soon. Sending tons of vines. You might want to send a pm to Sienne to ask about the AB, she might not stop by again to see your question.

Re: 8/28 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=148 // not feeling well again

Hi Mariko,

Sorry to hear Lucy's still not her usual self. Several years ago I fostered a litter of 8 kittens who kept getting diarrhea - from terrible to semi-soft. 3 separate times we put them on AB, they improved & gained weight. I'd take them back to the rescue group & they'd falter. Ultimately a different vet checked a stool sample under a microscope or possibly cultured it - parasites! They required a specific AB, not the one they'd been on - it was only holding it at bay.

I don't know if Lucy goes outside or there's any possible way she could have some kind of bug? You may want to check with your vet re. a stool test just in case.......

Good luck; I know its frustrating when you know something's going on but can't get your finger on it.

Aww Mariko, I'm sorry Lucy still isn't feeling well. I know that hurts your heart.

I wish I had something beneficial to say, but Check's diarrhea has always been cleared up after Fortiflora. I'm giving it to him now while he's on clindamycin.

Sending lots of 'feel better vines, to Lucy.

Re: 8/28 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=148;+9=119 // not feeling well aga

Look at all these vines and well wishes, Lucy.

Thank you so much.
They really mean a lot to Lucy and me.
If her diarrhea doesn't clear up by weekend, I will bring her poop sample to the vet.

I will report back upon arrival of her next poop.

Re: 8/28 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=148;+9=119 // not feeling well aga

And where else on the internet could you have at least a dozen people waiting, and wishing the best?

...
...

No wait, if there is such a place I don't want to know...

Re: 8/28 Lucy PMPS=117 // feeling teeny bit better

Thank you again for all your vines and well wishes.

Lucy is feeling teeeeny bit better now.
I gave her sub-q fluids this afternoon, and that seemed to have done some good.
She must have been dehydrated with all the liquipoo, she didn't even form a bubble under her skin today.
The fluids got absorbed really fast.
I usually give her fluids twice a week only, but I think I'm going to give her another 100ml or so tomorrow again.

Janet - I did try slippery elm bark powder at the very beginning of this episode.
It seemed to made the problem worse, she went from softie to liquipoo, so I stopped after 6 days.
I don't believe it was necessarily because of slippery elms.
I think she was going that direction anyway, but for now I need to eliminate any possibility however slight.
I do want to try it again though.... just have to be careful when I do it.

What's most frustrating to me when something like this happens is that I can never identify what caused the change.
Is it the elm barks? Is it the omega-3 I started adding? Is it the steroid dose change that's catching up to her?
I need a hair-pulling smilies here.
