Last night, with Sienne and Libby's advice, we decided Johnny should go back to BID. The last few days, it's essentially what we were doing, since his numbers were going above 150. I hope this is just what Johnny needs! He's become better at not dipping too low before surfing some nice greens and I hope he's able to keep it up. Today, he did great. All the kitties are singing my praises because I insisted on putting the air conditioning on! Brian will put it on at night, but during the day, it's amazing what he will put up with! So, Brian's out running errands and the kitties and I are enjoying the a/c!

nailbite_smile How long will Brian be out????

Re: 8/28 Johnny AMPS 197 +3(139) +4(102) +5(81) +7(72)

Johnny was 59 @ +10.25. This morning's shot was at 9:45 a.m. He had fun this afternoon helping me organize some things, had a snack and then had been sleeping so soundly and looked so comfy, I didn't take a +8 or +9. He happily ate a bit and we'll test again soon at +11 (8:45 CT).

In case it matters, we moved his test/shot up 15 minutes from last night's 10 p.m. shot to inch him back to our usual 8am/8pm shot times. We planned to do the same tonight, but we'll wait 12 hours if we can shoot at all.

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

How have you not had your AC on? We're only a couple of miles apart and I would melt, be very cranky, and have one long hair kitten who would be limp.

Post your +12 when you get it.

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

nice! johnny's on his way up.
home tonight? got strips? got hc? got milk?

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

74 @ +11.75. We have plenty of HC on hand, a new package of strips (opened today) and we're home for the night. We can test again in 15 min for +12 if you want. Johnny's enjoying a little more LC now.

Thanks for the A/C support. It's still on! Maybe if Johnny's dose advisors recommended it always be on ...

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

well, the motto is shoot low to stay low!
i think this is the break we've been waiting for.

oh, and... alex always has better numbers when the A/C is on!

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

I have good old Southern sweet tea, between the sugar and the caffeine I should be good for a while.

GO JOHNNY, GO! GO! GO!
JOHNNY BE GOOD!

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

nailbite_smile :-D Okay, so we shot him at 10pm! 15 minutes later than this a.m. and 24 hours after last night's shot. We took one last test and he was 117. Likely a food spike. Hopefully, it can still be "the break we've been waiting for"...right?

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

it's all good. don't worry, k? :-D
lantus likes lower ps numbers... and this one isn't even that low!

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

I should maybe also mention that between the +11.75 and the +12, Johnny fell behind the tv stand. He was monkeying around and playing on this ledge (not tall, hard to explain) behind. He could have gotten himself out, but possibly pulling cords with him. I rescued him by pulling the stand out a little...and then pushed it back so nobody could get behind it. He seem unphased, but may have taken a hit BG wise. Johnny should really have his own reality show.

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

Get a +1, ok? I hope this will be the breakthrough. We're here with you tonight if you need us.

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

Go Johnny GO! Surf the night away for you MOM. I hope the night isn't too exciting around your place. You'll be fine I know.

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

Thanks, everyone! We're a tiny-bit nervous, but feeling BOS (Pat would be proud for the reference) strong that it was the way to go! We know we can bring up low numbers and we've got great company. Does the 117 concern anyone that we could have missed the "big breakthrough" boat?

Jill, thanks for the video! Johnny was in the room and listened and I sang along when I knew the words...basically the chorus. He seemed intrigued to have the computer singing his name. He seems to love music. Hopefully, he enjoys listening to the lyrics. LOL

I'm not concerned about that at all, you shot low, hooray! I love to seize these opportunities when the cats are kind enough to give us the chance.

Re: 8/28 Johnny +10.25 (59) +11 (72) - shot in an hour?

Johnny's 57 @ +1....need to update spreadsheet. Little bit of LC delivered to him. Testers came to him...he's lounging on a dresser upstairs.

Re: 8/28 Johnny PMPS 117 +1(57)

1 tsp of gravy down the hatch! Johnny appreciated it. He's still licking his lips! It was FF Gravy Lovers Ocean Whitefish and Tuna.

Since the food stuff took so long, we'll get another test in a few minutes...+1.5. Unless we should wait an extra 15 for the carbs to take effect. He just ate the gravy a few minutes ago.

janice, it's early in the cycle.
i would mix a little bit of karo in with the gravy to bump up the numbers.
please retest in 15-20 minutes...

Right now, he's eating more than a tsp of gravy mixed with honey. We also have lactose-free milk in the house...he loves that and hasn't had it since dx. He'd love that if it would help. Wasn't sure about mixing fishy tastes with milk. We'll test in 15 min (12:15; +2.25)

edited to add: he'd probably drink as much gravy as we gave him...just trying to spread it out. let me know if you think we should be giving more. We have three more cans of HC.

I think the gravy with honey right now is good. I don't know if milk would help, it might. I bet he doesn't care about mixing fish with milk, they eat the weirdest combinations of things...

the numbers will tell us if more hc is needed. let's see how it goes.
milk and fishy flavors sounds pretty yucky to me, but johnny might like it. lol!
see you soon...

He's eating more gravy/honey right now. We'll test at 12:45. Sorry if I was slow on the up-take for a minute.

And just to be clear, I'm literally giving him only the gravy (drained from the HC food).

Just gravy! Mirror advice from both Libby and Jill...must be true! :-D

Johnny's acting like his usual late-night self. Just chi-laxing and walking around to relax in new areas. Test in 5.

nice! This is probably a carb bump, so he'll probably wobble back down, unfortunately. It can't hurt to give him a little more gravy, maybe with some of the food this time. Then test in 1/2 hour.

this may be a little much, but i would feed about a quarter of a 3oz can of hc at +3.
the food should stay with him a little longer than the gravy. then i would test at +3.5 to see what kind of bump the food gave him...

Just gave him 1/4 can of HC beef with gravy at +3. He's taking a HUGE bath right now. :) He definitely ate all the gravy and around 85% of the food chunks. I'll test again at +3.5. Still bathing...eau de Beef! Oh la la!

oh yeah, he has to get that beef juice alllllll over himself, so you can enjoy it when he snuggles up against you.

LOL Libby! You definitely know the drill! I still remember one tuna bath Johnny took a year or so ago (straight tuna, not FF)...you could smell him two rooms away for a few days. He was so proud!

good. I'd like to see at least one more rising number before bed, just for safety's sake. It's still pretty early in the cycle. 1/2 hour?

eta: I see Jill said an hour. That sounds good too.

II'll get a +4 and +4.5 just to be super vigilent (anal?) Should I feed anything in the meantime? Brian's in bed to be available for 2nd shift, if needed. I know we can keep his numbers up with food. Wow, I've come so far. I think the time I talked to Jill, Johnny was in the lower 30s and terrified. I don't want to revisit those numbers ever, but wow, thanks for giving me the confidence to bring him up.
