Even tho I rarely post, mostly b/c their SS's are never up to date (I have a handwritten log in the vetting room where I keep track of their #s), just wanted to let everyone know that Tinkerbell & Tawny are doing really good. Tink is down to 3.5u from 5u, was down to 3.25u but started creeping up so she's back up a smidge. She will get another increase in 3 more cycles (her 6th on 3.5u) if she doesn't come down out of the low 200s.

Tawny is throwing low blues on 7.25u, she was down to 7u (from 8.5u) but crept into the high blues/low yellows so she got an increase over the weekend. She was throwing way too many low to mid greens (50, 62, 80) on the higher dose and I was having to skip too many b/c work so I bumped her down. I'll shoot an 80 and leave, a 62 if I'm going to be here, but not a 50, whether I'm here or not. amps today was 111 on the 7.25u.

We are smack dab in what is currently being predicted as basically the core of Storm Issac, tho we are a good bit inland, about an hour and a half from New Orleans. It is expected here that we will have flooding, wind, rain, massive, lengthy power outages. We are ready. Sand bags are set out, we have plenty of supplies, we expect lots of wind and rain and to be without power for at least 3-4 days. I don't go back to work until Friday b/c the storm. We plan to evacuate to upstairs if need be. Seriously. We will go upstairs. That's our evac plan, and the only one we need. We have battened down the hatches, laid in supplies, and are ready to weather this storm. We survived Hurricane Katrina (tho I didn't have Tawny at that time) and two of my semi feral kitties are actually Katrina refugees. We went w/out power for over 3 weeks after Katrina, so I think we can weather this storm.

Just thought I'd post that since some of you, mostly the old timers, know where we are and might be wondering...

I'll update as I can, tho don't count on the SS's being current! ;-)

Hi,
I don't think we've met.

Do you have a plan for keeping your insulin cold in case of power failure?
I was just recommending getting some dry ice to someone else and keeping it in the freezer until a power outage.
Be sure and wrap the insulin in bubblewrap or a towel to buffer it from the dry ice, you wouldn 't want to accidentally freeze the insulin.
Hope you have lots of water , test strips , lancets, syringes and cat food and extra batteries for your meter.

and everything else you need for yourselves too! :-D

i'm so glad you checked in. i've been thinking about you ever since i saw issac's projected path.
take care and stay safe, desi. stop back in when you can.
sending positive thoughts...

Desi, I'll be praying for you and your critters. I hope your place holds up fine and you don't get much destruction in your area. Please post when you can to let us know everything is okay. I hope your DBF is there to help you through it all.

:YMHUG: and Good Luck,

Tink & Tawny are good today, no real changes or anything to report.

Rather than open a new condo I'll keep this one for now. I know this is OT but...

The outer bands of Issac are starting to show up here. The wind has picked up substantially & it is raining lightly off and on. It is coming right for us, the latest hurricane track shows my area just slightly to the east of the center of the storm. Sandbags are out & supplies laid in. We are prepared to evacuate to the 2nd floor of the house if the water comes up. Everything that can be done has been done here, now it's just sit around & hurry up and wait.

The power going out doesn't bother me, the wind doesn't bother me, it's the water I'm scared of. Most of you old timers will remember why, and that wasn't even due to a hurricane. At least this time I have flood insurance, and sandbags out, now that I know the house is in the flood plain. Didn't know b4, wasn't supposed to be. I'm having flashbacks, can you tell?

Will update when possible.

Thanks everyone for your concern. I would have told Ashley to bring Sushi and come on over here but she wouldn't be any safer here and may have possibly been even worse off, cuz Baton Rouge for now is on the west side of the storm & appears to be a little farther from the center than me. & I'm here on my own with the critters, & I know she was concerned about being on her own as opposed to being w/her friend's family. We'll be thinking of them tho, and watching for their updates.

Stay safe, DD. I'll be thinking of you, and hoping the storm passes and the waters recede quickly.
I'm also sending stay safe vines to all your outdoor critters.

Thinking of you and your critters. (((Desi))))
I remember that flood at your home earlier. Glad you have insurance this time.

We will be watching for updates. cat_pet_icon

Thinking of you and the critters. Stay safe! Do you have a way to cut a hole in the roof? I'm sorry if that's a dumb question.

We haven't met, but I just wanted to wish you and your sweet kitties a safe ride through the storm! Break out the surfboards for all of you! :-D

Hunker down, hold each other tight, and be safe!
