Good morning LL!

Thank you all for your healing vines and good thoughts last night. It must have helped because Tarragon slept through the night and has not coughed since about 11 pm. He was very hungry this morning and all of his "functions" are working correctly. :lol: He didn't want his breathing treatment or pill this morning and fought me on both. That is a good sign. I am going to call his vet this morning and talk to him about the ER visit yesterday and see if he has any great revelations on what we can do. I know he has been calling colleagues, scouring his brain and scouring the internet for any ideas since Tarragon is his first asthmatic, diabetic, IBD cat.

Liz - Nothing has changed in our house at all. That is what is so confusing. The only thing that is different is the drought. My allergies have been killing me as well. It is partly the time of year but also the lack of rain and the heat that must be bothering it. Tarragon does not go outside and we have had the AC on non-stop but I can't help but think even the pollen we bring in on our clothes and Charlie might bother him.

Thank you all again! We all really really appreciate it. I am at tbp already. DH will go home at lunch and let Charlie in and give Tarragon his albuterol.

I am so relieved to see this today! I do wonder if it could be the dry air and allergy season kicking in...I'm sure he probably gets exposed to some pollen, even though he doesn't go outside. I hope he continues to breath easy and feel feisty!!

I am happy to hear today is better as well. ~O)

My allergist/ENT says I should just move to Hawaii so I would only have the Ocean winds that
haven't traversed over land and plants, less pollen.
I guess you'll have to suffer too and we'll move there where we can breathe better. :cool: :lol:

You might want to start tracking Tarragon's bad days with the pollen charts to see if you can
at least narrow it down. You've got ragweed and goosefoot in the High count today.
Goosefood and Pigweed look a lot alike, so it might be Pigweed.
Those are two of my worse ones, I can't even touch pigweed without hives.

I would also say that on those bad days you might want to vacuum your rugs each day since the pollen is also on your shoes and Tarragon is probably on the floor a lot.
If you don't have a fantastic vacuum cleaner, you should. I clean our Church and I've gotten
to try all of them ( I can buy whichever ones I want) and right now, the best thing out there
is the Dyson. They pick up more everything than any vacuum I've ever encountered.

I'm so happy to see this today, i was worried about Tarragon and thought about him all night and he was the first thought of my day too. I can't imagine how you must be feeling. I'll do a rain dance for you today if that's what it takes to get Tarragon feeling better.

Melissa, nice report on Tarragon this morning, and especially fighting his meds and all functions working. :-D I hope the Vet can help with some options for Tarragon. Sounds like a really good vet if he's researching and talking to colleagues. (((Hugs)))

Rhiannon - We have been tracking somewhat but need to be more precise as far as the type of pollen each day. We knew that Sunday was going to be a bad day pollen wise. Thank you so much for the link. That will be very helpful. We bought a Dyson last year and I vacuum daily. Fortunately we only have area rugs and those get vacuumed along with the hard woods each day because of Tarragon and all the dog/cat hair everywhere. I also dust 3 times a week and have been changing the air filters every two weeks. We are going to try changing our clothes when we come in from outside and giving Charlie his baby wipe bath out in the garage before we bring him in and see if that helps.

Morning Melissa - it is good to re ad that tarragon had a better night. What a relief that must be. Good luck with this aspect of Mr T's life. I can only iamgine how difficult it must be. You guys do such a god job with him, try everything you can. Good luck with everything.

Hi guys, oh melissa, I did not realize tarragon's asthma had gotten so bad .. I am happy to hear that he is feeling better this morning .. how scary that must be! It sounds like you guys are doing everything in your power to make his breathing easier .. I just hope this pollen season goes by very fast for you, and you don't have any more flare ups!

Oh thank goodness Tarragon had a good night and fighting you off from the meds this morning is a step in the right direction. My allergies have been horrendous in the last week. It's just that time of the year. Sending T more breathing well vines and some calming ones for you as well.

Tarragon is doing pretty well tonight. Still coughing every now and then but moving around more. The vet scheduled an Echo for tomorrow morning at 8. He told me to go ahead and shoot as normal as long as Tarragon is in his usual numbers. Does anyone have any thoughts? I am going to stay there while they do it and try to be in the room. I will be sure to take my testing equip with me to keep an eye on his BGs and not pay the $40 per test they charge.

We've never had an echo done on the kitties, but I'm sending along "perfect Echo results" vines!

It's crazy what they charge for pokie tests. Trix's vet charges $35 per test - and I thought that was bad!

Melissa, sending lots of good luck Vetty vines for tomorrow's echo. Karrie and Maverick would have a lot of info on it if you want to pm her. She had made some comments when Maverick crossed the Bridge about Main Coons and heart issues. Hope all goes well. (((Hugs)))

Good luck with the echo tomorrow. I seem to remember Julie/Punkin might have had one of those before. I was happy to read that Tarragon is breathing better today as well as having nice blue numbers. And Wow! on the cleaning regime, it sounds very thorough. Scritches and healing vines to Tarragon from us.

Year's ago, a friend of mine with bad allergies found a spray for his air filters. It sprayed them with a sticky substance so that more dust and pollen would stick to the filter. I don't know if this is still available or where you'd even look for it. If you're not already using them, HEPA filters may help.

I googled what Sienne was discussing in her post.

It looks like the recommendation is: Pam cooking spray.

Use Pam on a cheap filter and change more frequently. And there will also be less drag on the system than if you used the more expensive filters.

We will be thinking about ya tomorrow.

((((Melissa))))). I'm so far behind and I'm sorry I've missed out on everything going on with Tarragon. I'm glad he's better today. Keeping him in our prayers for continued good breathing and sending lots of healing vines. I hope the echo goes well tomorrow.
