Since starting the pred again her BG has gone up quickly. Should I inject more than a drop to try to get ahead of it?

ETA: I just shot a drop, but I'd still like to know what others would have done.

Wow she went up quickly after starting the pred!
Is there another alternative to pred? If there isn't, then I think I would increase. But I don't know anything about pred so my opinion shouldn't count for much

Not that I know of. It is, to me, a miracle drug, but one of the possible side effects is diabetes. Cats tolerate it better than humans, and Maggie has taken it for 16+ years. I also treat her asthma with an inhaler, and the idea is to wean them off the pred, but when I try the asthma flares up. I was surprised at how well she has done after completely stopping it about 3 weeks ago. But lately she fights the inhaler, getting little of the medicine.

To my knowledge pred is the only thing that can effectively treat asthma. Since there was a recent NS I'd probably wait a few more cycles before increasing. She may be on her way to green today.

Sorry no one was around to answer your question before you shot this morning. I'd wait and see if she gets back to green on her own before you increase. I agree with Karen, the NS could be affecting her numbers too. If you don't see green by tomorrow, I'd increase.

With pred on board she may wobble a bit with some higher numbers. Just remember dose is adjusted based on nadir not the higher numbers.

Thanks for the reminder, Karen. Hard to ignore higher numbers, but I understand.
