Harley is on day six,
up to all sorts of tricks,
borrowed Ollie's sponges,
ready to take some plunges,
riding down over the falls,
climbing the walls,
8 days more,
and then the big score!

Go Harley Go!

Harley is down in the green grass today. Careful that the cow doesn't mistake you for something good to eat.

I have gathered my Harley photos...though I am scared to send them so as to not jinx his progress :)

Is there any point in the 14 day trial that there are signs or that it will or won't be a success? I'd like to think him getting a 45 yesterday and a 61 both yesterday and today all on his own are good things.....

I'm cutting and pasting part of the instructions from the OTJ trial instructions.

[*]If your cat is green (0-99 human meter) at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If the numbers are blue (100-199 human meter), feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. Food raises BG's. So if the number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then the pancreas is working!

So Harley tested AMBG blue a couple of times in the early days of the trial, but you tested 3-4 hours later and he was down to the green numbers. That tells us his pancreas is kicking in to produce it's own insulin and bring down the numbers. Food brings up the numbers, insulin brings it back down.

So far, from what I'm seeing, Harley is doing great. His PMBG tests have been fantastic, and the AMBG tests are in normal range. Remember, normal numbers on a human glucometer are 40-130. It's not unusual to have a few higher numbers at the beginning of the trial or even to have an outlier like that 137 on 8/23.

Relax, Harley is doing fine. Everything is cool.

So, are your more nervous now that Harley is off insulin than you were when he was on insulin and could go hypo?

Or is there another reason?

Those numbers you got today, the 81 and the 61 are the numbers Wink normally gives me with his weekly OTJ tests. They look good to me!

haha no I meant I'm nervous while Harley goes through the trial that he'll be able to stay off insulin :) my work schedule can be very erratic, working very long days and on the road a lot, so keeping him safe and regulated on insulin was always a big concern and I had to cut back on work....but he comesfirst : )

I know...I know...I get ahead of myself and need to be scraped off the ceiling sometimes ohmygod_smile
