No poop since yesterday. She is acting normal. Even played with the hoodie string while on door knob. It was cold enough last night to pull out the hoodie to wear.

So lactulose being cut out for time being. Trying psyllium husk in place of it and keeping miralax at night. So concerned she is going to get constipated again.

Think I might give bone broth to calm her colon and maybe that will help also. This vet always denied megacolon but this time said she "has a big colon" we know there is little to none motility. Cisipride does help.

Anal glands is a new issue, have no clue about that. Jamie mentioned glandex so will look for some.

Tomorrow I won't have time to start thread. We have to be at follow up surgeon visit 2 hrs away. Will be leaving soon after t f s and the site will be updating so won't be able to get on.

Nice to see Olive is playing! Broth could be a good idea and the more liquid the better for constipation. Hope psyllium helps! One of my kitty had megacolon!
Wish you a good day Paula and hope tomorrow's visit for your husband goes well!

Nice to hear that Olive is playing!
It's my understanding that both psyllium husk and miralax draw water into the colon? Is dehydration a concern with Olive already (I think you give fluids a couple of times a week?)

Very best wishes for DH with the follow up visit.
I've known people to have good results with glandex. Just a tiny sprinkle on their food.
Feel better still, Olive girl.

She isn't dehydrated. The purpose of fluids with her according to her regular vet is to help keep her flushed out for the p'titis at the time we started it and to help prevent constipation. Ollie still drinks a ton of water. Back then vet also said to provide more fiber to give her bulk. Of course wanted me to give rx food for that, but I declined. Did buy psyllium husk then, maybe I didn't give it enough time.

Awe! I would love to see sweet Olive hunting and killing that hoodie string! I am sending poop vines for Ollie! we definitely don't want to see constipation. I agree with you that it definitely sounds like Mega Colon

Olives vet: She does not have mega colon
Also Olive's vet: Olive has a big colon

LOL

Anyway, I hope you see some movement soon and that you both have a great day!

Sending poopie vines to you Ollie! Good luck at the surgeons appointment tomorrow Paula, I hope everything goes well. :bighug:
