She won't eat. I tried to force feed and you practically have to pry her jaw open - it's not really much of an option. I forgot that Kasha has a way of taking good news and flipping it around. What? All I have to do is eat and take my antibiotics and I'll be better? Ok - I'm NOT going to eat NOR take my antibiotics. How's that? Huh?

I'm done. Whatever. I tried to get some food in her. I shoved a tiny bit of a cyproheptadine tab in her mouth repeatedly and maybe it got down - it's hard to say. The rest is up to her. I just can't deal with this today.

She's still sucking in air and snorting. If I come near her with a bowl of food, she runs. Whatever. She walks from one water bowl to another and licks a little or rubs her face on them.

Sending cyproheptadine worked vines to Kasha.

Are you home today, Krys?

Re: 8/26 Kasha AMPS 112

Is she on pain meds Krys?? Sounds like her nose is bothering her from the way you mention her at the water and pawing her face I see this so much at work after dentals with extractions so just wondering if since the vet went in and had so sew up that cavity on her if the pain level is keeping her from eating?? cyproheptadine comes in trans-dermal that you can put in her ear for appetite that way you would not be having to give that pill at least. Sending her healing vines and get to feeling better vines and a ton of snowflakes to help her today and some for you as well (((((HUGS)))

No - going in to work. Based on the amount of time I've already taken off this year, I have very little time left to use for the rest of the year. Let's put it this way - I'll be working the day after Thanksgiving for the first time in over a decade.

I emailed Amy, the vet tech, last night about Kasha vomiting her A/B and she suggested 5 mg Pepsid an hour before. So, we'll try that tonight. I'll get ready for the fight.

Lisa - she had bupe last night around 10 pm or so.

I figured they had given you pain meds but wanted to ask hope things improve soon for both of you sending more (((HUGS))))

Re: 8/26 Kasha AMPS 112

How often did the vet tell you to give the bupe? I thought it was like every 8 hours or something. I may be wrong. I've only used it once on J.D. and that was a year ago. He jumped off this desk where I'm typing right now and hurt his leg like 2 days before we left on our trip to California.
I certainly hope your (and Kasha's) day gets better.

Re: 8/26 Kasha AMPS 112

You guys just can't catch a break, can you? Sending some less snotty snozzle vines, eating vines, take your AB vines to Kasha and a (((((Krys)))))) to you. Hope things get better today.

On the upside...not a bad amps!

Re: 8/26 Kasha AMPS 112

Sorry about this morning, it can be really frustrating. I hope she starts to eat and take her meds later on today. Maybe she just wants to be in control? ;-)
Great amps this morning!Positive vibes coming your way!

Re: 8/26 Kasha AMPS 112

Well, she was up to 146 BG when I left for work. That could be because I put out a teaspoon or so of FF Elegant Medleys in an attempt to get her to eat. She refused it - but later I noticed it looked like all the gravy had been licked out of it. I don't know which one did that, but guessing it might have been Kasha... I think if Blue had found it, he would have eaten all of it - not just the gravy.

I gave her A/B nose drops before leaving for work - just because she vomited her real A/B last night, I wanted to make sure there was something working to fight infection...

Is it good or bad that she was trotting around the house this morning really fast trying to get away from me? She doesn't usually move very quickly - but unfortunately, this time she was trying to avoid me...

Re: 8/26 Kasha AMPS 112

Hoping the pepcid will work tonight....and also that she will suddenly do a turnaround and start eating....that happens sometimes a day or so after a procedure, right? At least her tooth site was stitched and now she should be getting better and better as the time goes by...Should be the operative word...sigh...hope things get better fast. Guess she is okay if she was so quick trying to get away form you... ;-)

Sending lots of healing, eating, taking AB vines for Kasha, and a big hug for you! So frustrating when you know what they need, but they won't cooperate!! I hope the pepcid helps!

Hi Krys, I hope that by the time you get home from work your Kasha will be feeling better and will be happy to see you. Stu is sending a nice fresh bouquet of healing vines.

Re: 8/26 Kasha AMPS 112 PMPS 112 Vomit A/B again

She just vomited the remains of dinner and all of her A/B again at PM +1.5 (even after giving pepcid 45 min - 1 hour previous). I have a call into the vet - my vet isn't in today, but they will ask one of the others about what to do.
...
Ok - the vet's office just called - I am to stop the clindamycin and my vet will be calling me tomorrow with a recommendation. In the meantime, I am to wait an hour or 2 and feed her if she'll eat and give her 100 ml sub Q fluids (I'm going to wait till she chills out a bit before giving the fluids - and sometimes squids perk up her appetite as well - though I would be surprised if they did anything at this point).

She's breathing more loudly now - I think the clindamycin made her drool and salivate so much that it worsened everything.

Why is nothing easy for me and Kasha?

Man, this just stinks for you. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I know how frustrating a sick kitty can be when they don't want to cooperate. I've been there many times myself. Hoping she starts feeling better and eating on her own soon, and that you can get some rest and refreshment to continue the fight!

Krys --

What about giving her some chicken broth? It sounds like her mouth hurts. If she's licking the gravy or drinking, maybe she'll lap up broth. At least it has some protein.

When I've used bupe, it's been a BID dosing. Bupe and pepsid both can be found in injectible form. (I think the oral bupe and the injectable form are the same stuff but I don't know that for sure.)

I think she's nauseated more than hurting - she licks but then turns her head away like the food makes her feel bad. I'm hoping not to need injectible anything - I used up my last dose of bupe (it was BID) this morning. Her appetite wasn't any better on the bupe - which is another reason I don't think it's just pain. Remember - she can't really smell anything, so her appetite has been iffy for a while. And she doesn't get the most restful sleep because she's congested... I think she's just feeling bad all around.

When you say chicken broth - do you mean store bought stuff or homemade? I mean, homemade is NOT happening and the only thing even close to it that I have right now is made with onions and stuff that's not good for cats... I might have something else in the fridge, but I don't know. She wouldn't even look at baby food :(
