Garland is doing great! Snoozing in the laundry basket right now cat_pet_icon Today is my daughters 3rd birthday :-D Happy Friday everyone!

good morning, violet. happy to hear garland is doing so well. since this is the lowest preshot number you've ever shot (and a little bit of a drop), you'll want to get a +1 and +2 to give you an idea of where she's headed number-wise. post the numbers when you get them. i won't be around until later today, but others will be.

We are leaving now for my daughters birthday breakfast, so the first one I can get will be closer to +1.5/2.. Will that be okay?

Hi guys, such a nice number for garland this morning! I agree with Sienne, get one right before leaving and one right as soon as you get back, just to keep an eye on her .. happy birthday to your daughter! have a great weekend guys!

Looks like Garland is seeing some action from the 2.75u Lantus.
You will need to keep and eye on this cycle.

Sorry, just got back

The AMPS was taken about 10-15 minutes before we left. Her +2 is 120. Im about to test her using my old meter to see if there is a difference

EDIT-- The ReliOn meter measured her BS at 154 and the Contour at 120 about 5 minutes earlier

I want to say I remember someone a few years back putting together info on various meters and the Contour was one that read lower than others...Hopefully someone will chime in
I always used the Contour, when I purchased a back up meter I got another Contour.
I think it's best to pick 1 meter and stick witih it - keep the other as a back up, incase your main one goes on the fritz, or the cat hides it(which happened to me). As to which one - I honestly don't know.

i'd try to get another test at +4 or so, if you can work it in. you just don't want to have garland go too low today and not be aware and able to attend her.

I have time to test periodically the rest of the day. It just happened we had breakfast plans right after I tested/fed her this morning.

Karrie-- With the O (i never know how to spell it LOL) Its 1/4th a pill 2x a day? Right? Does it matter with or without food? I just cut them all into 4ths. (whoever suggested the pill cutter THANK YOU!!)

I am planning on sticking with the contour(I just got it). It was just baffling how the first few times I started using it I got really low numbers. Just wanted to see how it compared

Yep 1/4 of a pill every 12 hours. I bet you'll see even brighter eyes and more perkiness after starting this. I gave this to Maverick with his morning feeding so it was during a feeding. I don't remember any specific timing requirements with this except keeping it separate from the pepcid.

I am thrilled with her numbers and improvement.

Please keep an eye on this cycle - get that +4.
when did she last eat and when is her next meal? (sorry, I can't see ss from tbp)
Any tummy problems today?
(BTW - "O" was what I used myself during chemo - worked like a charm!)

Good morning Violet and of course, you too Garland!! Happy birthday to your little girl! enjoy this time because they become teenagers! (sorry ignore that!)

Everyone is sending healing vibes for a complete recovery and once again Violet, you are doing a GREAT JOB!! You are juggling so much, so well! and with the little ones too . I remember when mine were that young, I barely had energy to feed my animals, much less all that you are doing .... I admire you very much .....

It is 12 now, her last meal was at 10, her next one is at 1
no tummy problems
Just started the O today. I hope it works :)

So glad to see those good numbers for Garland. She MUST be feeling better. Happy B'day to your little one too! Hopefully Garland will be around for many, many more B'days with kids.

Beautiful numbers today!!

I use a Contour as well (and my back-up meter is a Contour. I have 3 total.) If it is low compared to other meters, I'd rather have a meter that errs on the side of being low than one that errs in the direction of being high.

Just so you know, strips are best purchased on-line. They are prohibitively expensive if you pick them up at a Walgreens. I just bought strips on EBay -- $45.00 for 200 strips. I can reliably find strips on Amazon, Hocks, or ADW for $24 - $26 for a box of 50. (Walgreens would charge about $60 for 50 strips. Best to keep stocked up so you don't have to get strips in a hurry from a brick and mortar store.)

Good afternoon Violet and Garland and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your precious little girl!!! What a lucky little lady to have a mom like you, Violet. I have no kids and have had to tube feed a kitty and I know how much work it is and the sheer exhaustion so once again I applaud you loudly for all you have done towards Garland's recovery and these most awesome numbers!!!

Being a founding member of Glucometer Addicts Anonymous (GAA), I also have several meters. My main one is a One Touch Ultra Mini and so is my primary backup as they run very close. The Contour is my other backup. I tried a Freestyle Lite and did not like it at all. It consistently ran very different from the OT and the Contour. The Contour always runs higher than my OT at high numbers and close to the same at low ones. I believe Sienne sent me a review of the meters and the number one meter for accuracy was the OT with the Contour in hot pursuit :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: I think it is a good choice and I really like the small amount of blood it requires. I also buy all my strips on ebay.

+10 131 But it had been a bit longer since I gave her the recovery. I gave her some of her old FF to see what would happen. She ate it!! :-D I only put about 1oz down. I dont want to rush her. Then I had to go run a few errands. And tested her before I did her 6pm tube feed. Still 2.75 lantus tonight?

Violet: not sure about the dose.....it's great that you have her where she is. It seems Jill said something about the cutoff for dose reductions for her but I don't recall but if I am thinking correctly, I thought perhaps she said if she gets below 60? Let me check your condos and see if I can find it because I am not sure at all.

I'll be around tonight and I bet some others will be, too, to chip in with support if she goes lower. Anxious to see her PMPS!

Great looking day for Garland and a great day for your daughter! Special stuff all around.

I just want you to be well prepared in case Garland decides to throw some green. Remember you can put gravy into the tube and Karo on Garland's gums should it be necessary. I'm not trying to scare you -- just wanting you to have your supplies set up.

Can you get a +1 and a +2?

I just wanted to stop in and say "Happy Birthday" to your daughter, and what a fabulous day all around for Li'l Garland! As others have said, you truly are amazing...your kids and kitties and hubby are all sooo lucky to have you!

It's so completely awesome to see how well Garland is doing. I can just image the relief you're feeling right now!!! And thank goodness she's gotten better in time for your daughter's birthday!!! It would have been awful having to go through what you went through earlier AND try to make it a happy occasion for a three-year-old. My daughter turns 20 next month and it seems like just yesterday that she was that wonderful little three-year-old who let me pick out her clothes and fix her hair!!! While I soooo miss her as a little girl, she and I have developed a really great adult relationship and we have soooo much fun together still...just different than it used to be. The teenage years may be tough (my daughter was lucky to have survived being 16!), but that too shall pass!!

Again, awesome job you're doing with Garland!!!! I may not post every day (cuz works a killer), but I do read Garland's condo every day to see how things are going!!
 
You guys are sooo sweet :YMHUG: I feel very blessed to have my family and my kitties. Im the lucky one :smile: And now I feel even more lucky to have met all of you!
