Hi,

Need to purchase Lactated Ringers and Terumo thin walled needles for my kitty with kidney disease, any suggestions? I've gotten the supplies from the vet and they are expensive ($35 for the fluids and the attachment, needles separate).

Thank you!

I always got Trixie's LRS from Valley Vet, and I got her needles and lines from Thriving Pets. Valley vet had the best price for fluids and Thriving Pets had the lines I liked. For whatever reason, u wax never successful with getting any of the local pharmacies to order them for me.

Yes, I've had the same issue with the local pharmacies.

Which needles are best (thin walled)? I tried to give my cat fluids yesterday and he cried every time I stuck that large needle in his back. He is a sensitive 19 year old fella.

I used terumo. You might not be able to get the Utw ones but I've used the tw 19 and 20 and they were fine. Also got them from shopmedvet. On line. Don't know if they are still available. To get fluids from Walgreens you need to speak with the pharmacist and give give the NDC number. Let me known if you need the NDC and I'll look it up in my email n

The only thin walled I knew about were the Terumo 21g which is no longer available. One pet site carries Monoject but I am not familiar with those. Will look into shopmedvet. Thanks!

Thriving Pets seems to have 21G Terumos - you can select them from the drop down menu:

21G Terumos at Thriving Pets

You probably know this, but the bigger the number, the thinner the needle. Trix started out with 18g, but they were way too big for daily use. We used 20G until they were discontinued, then switched to these 21G.

Maybe I was thinking of the 20g, not too grounded in this information; I will order and see which ones we prefer (and which Milo feels more comfy with). Very helpful, thanks.

Have a great Saturday!
