8/25 Templeton AMPS 570 +3 332 +11 480 PMPS 593 Salve for ears?

This is from TESTING AND SHOOTING TIPS:

Ear Care
Since our kitties must endure so many tests, what are some ways to take care of the ears?
  • Hold a wet, cool baby washcloth on the poke site immediately after the test to prevent bruising.
  • Put Emla cream on the test sites after each test. It only takes a tiny dab and you can wipe it off before the next test. Emla cream requires a prescription from your vet. Neosporin with has been found to contain a toxin to cats, polymixin and should be avoided.
  • You can purchase Ledum 30C homeopathic remedy at any health food store. Dissolve one tablet in a small bottle of pure water and then apply one or two drops to each ear every day. Ledum is great for puncture wounds.

Here is what I’ve gathered from various threads, maybe it will help people searching for the same thing in the future.

Calendula (marigold)

Ledum Palustre homeopathic pellets (derived from a form of rhododendron)

Halo Cloud 9 salve is discontinued, but was popular, also contained Calendula, vitamins A, D, and E and tea tree oil.

Emla contains prilocaine and lidocaine, which are both metabolized by the liver, which is something to keep in mind.
But hey, so is Amoxicillin, and that's something we give them.

I think I'll try to find a reputable maker of calendula salve. And order the homeopathic pellets for ***** and giggles. Can't hurt.

I remember seeing someone post about an herb salve they used on their kitty's ears, does this ring a bell for anyone? My searches on here have come up empty.
He's clearly having some distress and is trying to scratch his ears.
I use hydrogen peroxide on Phoenix's ears. He has never had an infection or any problem with his ears even though some days he has his ears pricked over 10 times. I soak a portion of a paper towel and just dab his ears with it. To him, it just feels like water.

Thanks! We are big on peroxide in this house. I figured it would hurt, but I guess I should try it and see his reaction.
