Morning ~O) ~O) I had a btd earlier, so i'm feeling a little more awake than usual at this hour. Something strange happened this morning with Maggie. I got up the two hours before testing to remove the overnight leftover food and decided to stay up a bit and get caught up on condos. I was having some coffee, and Maggie was sitting on the chair by the patio looking outside in the small open yard area. All of a sudden she jumped down and ran into the bedroom. My bedroom window is too high for her to jump up, so I just noted her sitting by the side of the bed, and she seemed fine. When shot time came, I could not find her. I called and called and no Maggie. She wasn't under the bed either. Finally I looked in the closet and she's looking up at me all wide eyed, like "here I am!" Something must have spooked her in the yard, maybe a fox or one of the larger feral kitties. I brushed her, held on my lap and talked to her and she's all purry and happy. Four P's today, no poo, just one hard stony poo and a long string dangling from her butt. This was the grass she swallowed whole yesterday. I think no more grass for Maggie after yesterday's vomit. Have a nice Saturday. Not sure what's happening today.

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185

Hiya Ann!

Maggie's been doing pretty well - looking over her SS, I wonder what's been causing those yellows... Have you considered trying to add another drop to her dose maybe? Those July greens sure were lovely on her. Fingers crossed for you, whatever you decide.

Think , Miss Maggie!

Happy Caturday!
Hugs,
Jane

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185

Hi Jane, love the pretty butterflies! :-D Thanks so much for taking a look at Maggie's ss. I think the higher numbers started when she started having the constipation issues. Yes, I've thought I probably should add another drop. The yellow AMPS may be partly from her free feeding overnight and eating close to the +10! I think I also need to replace my vial. I've been trying to wait til the end of the month to order a refill.

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185

Ack - stoopid constipation!! Did you get any further input from your vet about that and its possible causes? (I assume you covered all the usual suspects - diet change, stress and so on?) Fingers crossed for Maggie to get back into the pretty blue/green groove of things

I'm glad you liked the butterflies

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185

Yes, stoopid constipation is right! The Vet says it is intestinal motility from age mostly and also she's a manx breed. (the latter my thoughts) I was reading an article where it was talking about Manx kitties being more prone to it. I'll see if I can find the article. Carolyn & Latte had a lot of info on the constipation issue with her kitty. Maggie was on lactulose as a stool softener and now is on Miralax. The Vet mentioned Cisapride if the Miralax doesn't seem to be working. I've been giving it to her in her food and also by syringe mixed with water. She does have a healthy poo once every three days.

ETA Here is one article:

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185

Manx, of course. I wonder whether she would allow you to massage her tummy daily? Clockwise and gently, of course. Might help, if she'd let you.

Thanks for the article!!
Jane

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185; +4 116

Nice +4 Mags! You're so close to greeeeeeen! Hoping you produce your 5th p today:)

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185; +4 116

Hoping that Maggie feels better in the poo area! Her numbers look nice right now. Would be nice if she came down just a little bit more!!! :-D

I had to laugh at the thought of massaging my cat's belly to help stimulate bowel movement. That would last about 4 seconds before I had 20 claws and a bunch of teeth aimed at my hand!  Hope it works for Miss Maggie!!!!

Happy Caturday! ~Deborah & Shasta

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185; +4 116

We've been using tummy massage regularly for Zener too and it helps. We didn't know about the clockwise direction though. Gosh, we always learn new things here! Poo patrol has paws crossed for miralax and Mags!

Still surfing, nice!

Thanks Tamara, she is having a nice day! Hoping to get her back on track.

Hi Deborah,  on the claws with your kitty. Maggie is so mellow she let me do anything except her butt area is off limits.

Hi Anne, I've read often in your condo where Liz and you give Zener tummy rubs. Thanks Poo Patrol on the paws crossed for Miralax to do its magic. I keep sneaking some on top of her food so that she'll get a fair dose and then later do the syringe method.

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185; +4 116; +7 118

Not bad numbers today for Miss Mags, and funny on the string hanging out of her butt  Poor Mags, i hope she doesn't read her condo today otherwise she might be a tad embarrassed!

The same thing with teeth and claws would happen if i tried massaging Leo's tummy, its good that Maggie likes having her tummy rubbed.

Have a great day Ann and Mags.

Re: 8/25 Maggie AMPS 185; +4 116; +7 118

Nice surf for Maggie today. Any time I try to rub Furball's stomach, she thinks I'm playing and starts grabbing my hand and biting it. Her stomach is off limits unless I want my hand tore up.

Nice slide there Miss Maggie. not let's see if you can make mamabean happy w/ a few greens tonight.

Manx, of course. I wonder whether she would allow you to massage her tummy daily? Clockwise and gently, of course. Might help, if she'd let you.
But would that reverse in the Northern hemisphere?  sorry, couldn't resist!

Hi Ann. Oh, to see lovely blues like that again. :-D

According to Dr Oz, and my DD, tummy rubs help humans with constipation also.
I too, would have a shredded hand, if I tried tummy massage. Checks would get me with the bunny kicks, he so loves.
How sweet that Maggie will let you do most anything to her....funny thing about cats, as Checks will let me clean his bum.

Not too bad for her ending number. I learned Mags loves popcorn. I had dropped a kernel of popcorn when all of a sudden Maggie went after it and non non, loves popcorn!. Too bad I can't give it to her for fiber...but the carbs!

Tracy, it was so funny with the string of grass dangling from her butt. At first I freaked but then remembered the grass incident.

Carla, I'm so surprised to hear so many kitties will not let their caregivers give tummy rubs. Maggie loves it. I never knew it could help constipation.

Ann & Tess   on the "reverse in the Northern hemisphere? sorry, couldn't resist!" comment. Mannie is a Manx, so I guess not true with all Manxys. I wonder about Binks.

BTW, does anyone know the whereabouts of Celia? & Binksy

Barb & Checkers, I love Dr. Oz, too. So no touching Checkers' belly either!

Hi Ann & Maggie,
I hope the tummy rubs help (clockwise, please!!). Have you tried yogurt yet? (plain, with active cultures). Come on, Maggie! Let's have a lb contribution tonight, OK?

Enjoy the weekend, Ann,

Ella & Rusty

Ella, thanks for the poo vines and for the reminder on the yogurt with live cultures. I haven't bought it yet, but intend on giving it to her. Maggie likes yogurt, so makes it easy.
I do have to hid my popcorn though! :-D

Nice surf for Mags today! Naturally, she and Trix are hangin' together this evening...what else should two cute girls do on a Saturday night  ??

Mags looks very good today! Despite poo issues, these are nice blue numbers--Hope you see the Magical Poo soon--Big Hugs & Love from us!!

Mags must have been expecting Vyktor on the patio this morning and got a shock when it wasn't him  Vyktor also shreds me if I go near his tummy :YMSIGH:

I'm comin tonight Mags, I'll protect you and chase off the interloper - luv Vyktor xxx

No news on Celi and the Binkster. She lost a dear friend not too long ago and has been absent since. Sure do miss her!

Sending motility vibes to the Magster! :-D

Yep, clockwise for babies, too. We do a U shape starting at the lower right side of the baby, but she's lying on her back with her feet toward my body. So, it's the lower left side of me. Up, across, and down the other side. Then, I put my fingers/hands behind her knees and gently push her knees toward her chest. It's supposed to help get the bowels moving. Let's see if Mags will let you do all of that?!
