Good Morning, LL!
Yesterday
STILL food dancing. I have yet to find a flavor he will eat more than once, but I can sort of get him to go back to Mixed Grill flavors of FF or Sophisticat. I just weighed him and he's at 14lbs. Is it normal for a cat to lose weight after a diet transition? Since he was on HC dry food until 7/26, so he's been on a wet diet for almost exactly a month. Is 1lb too much to lose in a month?
I am just concerned he is not getting his calories. If anyone has any other suggestions for foods that I haven't tried yet (I'm still having a hard time finding afforadable EVO or Natura near me) -- I've been logging it in the SS.
He has been eating a little more these last few days, but I've been following him around with the food dish and holding it up to him to eat. So now I have to get up for work earlier because I need to stand in the kitchen and hold his food for him, otherwise he's too picky about eating it on his own. ohmygod_smile I put out 5.5oz of food yesterday, and he ate perhaps 4.4oz. I have tried every combo of warming it up + adding water (sometimes warming it w/o H20, sometimes only putting warm H20 and no heating, not warming it up...) he isn't satisfied with any of them.
Otherwise his energy and mood is great -- if I wasn't counting the oz of food he ate every day, I wouldn't think there was anything wrong with his behavior.
Have a good day everyone!

Day 11- WooHoo!!!!

No advice on the food thing. We are lucky and T is still eating FF classic without squalking.

Hope you have a great day!

Hi guys ... day number 11 already! Love the 93 this morning mr howell .. now you need to start eating up your fuds for your beanz ok? have a great day guys!

Thank you all!
I might just be fussing over him too much. He's got great energy, is exploring all kinds of new places in the apt., and is sleeping a LOT less than he was a month ago. Today he's up to 4oz of food eaten, so I think I will just settle down and stop worrying for a while. :-D I've been letting him roam the apt. at night for the last week or so, without incident! (We use to keep him in the kitchen at night because otherwise we'd wake up and SOMETHING would be soaked in pee..) Don't want to get my hopes up, but I know he sleeps better at night on the couch than the kitchen floor. He hasn't done it since he's been OTJ! Usually if we let him roam, the 2nd or 3rd night he ends up peeing somewhere. Not this time!

I think they might actually keep me permanent parttime at my temp job! :-D :-D I hate getting my hopes up about these things, but today they told me I've been doing a great job and my HR rep told me she heard I was a 'rockstar' Well, okay!

Whooooo Hoooo! And Counting! Not sayin' nuttin' on the job! :-D :-D

Emily, what's your city and state again? I can do a little searching and see if I can't find an independent pet store near you that might have a variety of grain-free foods to try.

Emily
I have had wonderful luck with Weruva Mack & Jack and Asian Fusion. I did question the company and got the carbs. I'll send them along later. Have to get into my Jez email....

Hi there!

I don't know if losing 1lb in a month is too much. How much does his vet think he should weigh? I imaging it's hard to tell if he is overweight or not due to his fluffiness!

Nice going there with the BGs! BK has started making confetti for the party. . .

Julia -- I've never said actually  I live in Missoula, MT. We're a little out of luck for options out here, but I know there are some local stores nearby but they are very dog oriented and I have yet to check into if they carry cat food, too.

Debie, where do you buy those brands? I've never even heard of them.

Sandy :-D :-D I am starting to get excited!! I think he's going to make it but I gotta cross my fingers!

Lookin' good, Mr. Howell! I think that if he had been eating dry food-- even the so-called low carb dry food--, the change to wet food would be a factor in weight loss. Try not to let him lose any more weight so quickly, however. You could try buying food on the internet, but the problem there is that you would have to buy it by the case. That's a problem with a picky eater!

Contrats on Day 11!!

Here's a list of pet stores somewhat near you, i think? You might have to call and see if they carry canned cat food. I know PetCo carries Merricks and Wellness, and possibly EVO...but you still want to call the other places because it's way cheaper for me to get it at the independent feed store. You'll also find other good brands of cat food at an independent store that cats seem to really love...Weruva, BFF, Nature's variety instinct, etc.

Thanks Julia!
I got some Wellness from PetSmart, which also carries Natura, but I couldn't find the Merricks. I'll have to check out the other stores -- I know of all of them, some are good, some are realllly bad.
:-D Thanks for looking that up!
