When I came down this morning, Johnny was already up in the "clubhouse." (on top of the kitchen cabinets) I tried to get him to look over so I could see his cute face, but he wouldn't budge. He's tired, don'tcha know! I kept talking to him, telling him to have a good day (I tell all the kitties bye in the a.m.) and I see an ear pop up. Couldn't see his face or body, just an ear. At least he was listening! LOL

Other than that report, I'm not saying nuthin' today.

johnny's looking good!
what do you think about taking the next step towards tightening up his range? i'm thinking of taking the low shoot number down to 135.
what say you?

Jill? nailbite_smile We really haven't even shot a 150 yet. I have no idea how he'd react to a shot at a low number. I know you can't *know* per se, but what would you expect? He'd tuck it in his shed (hopeful) or just drop low and be massaged up with low carb and tests? Are deep-sea fishing excursions (30s, 40s) harmful in any way to his progress or helpful? I think we'd be comfortable shooting a 135 in the daytime (lots of time to watch, etc.), but am nervous about doing so in the evening, at least the first time. I just have no idea what to expect.

well, let's start by shooting anything over 150 (as long as it's been at least 12 hours since the last shot) and work down from there.
if you're nervous, definitely start during daytime hours. then you'll get an idea what to expect. the thing i'm concerned about is if we don't tighten up the range in order to keep johnny mostly under 120... this shooting a drop of insulin could go on indefinitely. right now the range is too wide. we don't want him in mid100s - 200s. the only way to get around that is to lower the low shoot number. let's do it gradually. baby steps...

Is there a huge difference between shooting a 135 or 150? We really would be okay shooting a 135 in the daytime (at least to start). Just probably lots of lather, rinse, repeat, right? We have two weeks exactly until classes start for Brian (full day, not able to come home during the day, five days a week) and we'll really lose our daytime window to test. I work 20 miles away and can't come home M-F. I know we can't speed up the process, but I don't want to hinder it by being chicken and would like to do whatever we can to help him tighten his range when we see an opportunity.

i've been looking over johnny's ss. why don't you start with shooting anything over 150. if we take the number down gradually, there shouldn't be any worry about not being able to come home during the day to test.

Sounds good. We'll shoot 150 and higher for now. And we'll try to be brave and shoot late evening 150s if we see the opportunity and we're prepared. Thanks, Jill, for following Johnny so closely!
