Well, looks like Spooky recovered fine from that 64 last night! I told DH last night I think maybe the EVO 95% might raise Spook's BG. That's what they all had last night, and he ate it like there was no tomorrow. For the most part, the Cat Crew has been receiving FF both morning and evening. This is what they've been snacking on too. Hmmm...can a food that is supposed to be low carb still affect a cat's BG that much?

Spooky did not eat much this morning, but thankfully- did not throw up either. His appy was better this evening. He ate about maybe half. He usually eats 1/2 - 2/3 of his food, then snacks here and there.

The testing saga continues. This morning, he was not happy with us. Not happy at all...he fussed, cried, flattened his ears, and growled. This evening, he jumped up on the couch with me and stayed there while DH came over to help. He was quiet until DH unwrapped him. He then quickly turned to us, hissed at us, jumped down, hissed at Voodoo, and took off. So close Spooky... so close... :-|

@ Sienne- no, DH cannot test Spooky by himself either. He's tried. We tried once...once  while Spooky was on his chair. Oh heck no! And Spooky has always been too fluffy to jump up on the counters, so I'm not sure how he would react if we tried to place him on the counter. The floor might be a possibility to try. He's usually on his chair or on top of the couch though.

I can definitely give him treats for the good behavior. I should have done that tonight when he jumped up on the couch all by himself and got on the towel. I was too busy petting him and telling him what a good boy he was. I didn't even think of giving him a treat. ohmygod_smile

Hello.
I think you will just have to keep experimenting . It's gonna get better.
And perhaps put the treats near the meter so they are together. It might help you remember.

I had many surgeries as a child and I always ran away screaming down the hall.
No treats offered. :o

well, i'm sure they bribed me somehow not to kick or bite the lab technician.

Cats will "work" for food. You have to be reasonably diligent about reinforcing the behavior you want -- whether it's at test time or other times. Once the behavior is in place, you don't need to reinforce it as often. It's really amazing.

Any change in diet, even to a lower carb food, may initially be met with some higher numbers. Give the EVO a week or so and see if numbers come back down. FWIW, some cats actually do better on a slightly higher carb diet so it's worth paying attention to how the food change is working.
