Hi all,
He had his dental a few weeks ago- one resorption issue leading to an extraction. I included pics just because....I had no idea his teeth were so bad and the dental has definitely helped him feel better!!
We are still in Miami on my Covid-19 medical travel assignment. I'm a little bummed about the Levemir switch- his body seems to treat it just like Lantus, so no real changes.
I have noticed way more scare tissue development in between his shoulder blades. As much as I try to avoid those areas, I did catch myself injecting near that area before running to work the other day. I do think some of that is affecting his numbers.
So, is anyone injecting away from the shoulder area consistently? How else can we vary those injections? Also, can you break that lipid scaring up? ( I've read two articles- one says to massage and another says not to...? )

Those teeth pictures are a good advertisement for a dental!

As for Levemir, I found 0.25 unit increases much more effective than fattening or skinnying the dose. The last increase didn’t do anything to improve Makota’s nadirs. I think he still needs more juice to improve duration and get him to flatter numbers Lev is so good at. Though not all cats are flatter on Lev.

I shot shoulders for five years, but I know there are people who rotated side, flank, belly. Have you looked at the section of the Sticky Note on syringe info and insulin care? Towards the end is a picture and link to discussion on placement of shot. Maybe avoid the shoulders for a while?

I will increase tomorrow night since I am off Thursday and Friday. It seems to take a few days before I see what an increase is doing. He had been in the 80s one night and I worried a full increase might put him into dangerous territory overnight with me not here. I've looked at the pics for placement, we had started shooting on the sides of his chest on the outside of his shoulders...he just doesn't let me shoot anywhere near his flank or trunk really. We did the area near his armpit today- sort of the top of his belly/lower side of his chest area and that was fine. I will try that and then move backwards each day...see how it goes.
