Happy Fursday!!! Thank you to all the kitties who brought me KTSS!!! It was amazing and I am certain that I am upright (instead of prostrate) today because of it!!
Gracie has continued to seem absolutely fine. CPC, 5Ps, very playful and purry and happy. I still took her to the vet today and they did a full blood panel and a C&S via cystocentesis. She was not a happy baby but she was so good that they just oohed and awed about how well behaved she was during the blood and urine draw. I changed her pen this morning because her numbers were getting wonky for no reason that I could figure HOWEVER that pen was subject because it had been sitting in the kitchen frig that went out the other day and the temps had gone up and down and up and down often out of the acceptable storage range. I know It was also in that frig when the power went out. Yes...the power went out affecting the other frig in the garage, too, but we didn't open it and it stayed really cool. When the power went out, I took this pen out and put it in a bag with some ice but I have no idea what the temp was.
I didn't get a spec fPL run today. GRRRRR but it's not my vet's fault. They use Texas A&M to run the test, not IDEXX. TAMU REQUIRES a six hour fast for a diabetic cat (12 hours for non FD). They said their reference ranges on results are set up specifically for those fast times and that any results provided on a sample where the kitty has not fasted those times is not reliable. Out of interest, I called IDEXX and they said they want a 12 hour fast for the test and results can be very inaccurate without the 12 hour fast. BUT....Gracie does not have any clinical signs of pancreatitis. My vet did NRT on her today and found her pancreas to be testing very strong whereas her liver tested a titch weak so we'll be looking for those liver enzyme levels to see where she is. She put her back on liver supplementation.
So much I want to tell you all about the trip but I actually have to go back to the doc now for more tests. BUT quickly.....I had an absolute incredible time and lunch with Ann and Dale was fantastic. They both looked so beautiful and, as you would expect, they were both just so much fun and kind, generous, funny. And Mike.....what an amazing job he did while I was gone. Not only with kitties but the house and yard looked incredible when I got home (but he's not a slob so I shouldn't be surprised about that  ). He just did a fantastic job as BIC. I feel......unnecessary
Have a great day.
