Up'd Bell's dose to 2.5 this morning and she is finally seeing some blues! Really glad to see that. She's getting really tired of the cone, so I'm trying to give her some breaks. Rupture looks really good and I'm tempted to take the cone off, but I want to make sure she won't reopen it before doing that - don't want to go through this again.

Glad to see the blues for Bell. Good luck with the increase.
Just make sure it’s fully healed before you lose the cone.
I know how hard it is to watch them hate the cone. But you don’t want to lost the progress and repeat it again.
I had to put it on Ivy for several months. Soooo hard.
Just give Bell supervised breaks. You’re doing great!!

Yeah it is super hard to watch her be uncomfortable and just sit around all day, but I don’t want her to have a setback. Thanks for the reminder.

Ahhhh multiple months would be so hard! Poor Ivy and poor you! :bighug::bighug:

The good news is she’s healing fast. So it sounds like it won’t be long she has to wear it! :)
Yea, last summer was a big suck for my household. My poor baby :bighug::bighug:

:cat:Ivy:cat: is a warrior!! :bighug:

Yes, this rupture was so much cleaner than her first one. It already looks great 4 days after it happened. But I’m being very cautious with the cone. My bigger concern is beating any infection and making sure this doesn’t reoccur. The culturing was a great idea and is reassuring. I just don’t have a grasp of how frequently these reoccur. I was frustrated to get the “all clear” from the vet from her first infection, only to have it rupture again a week later. Makes me sad Bell had to go through it again.

Poor baby. It is so sad it happened again. Let’s hope this is the end of this saga. And smart you are being cautious about another infection.
Keep healing Blue!!
And yes, Ivy is a warrior. My poor baby. She’s been through a lot in the past 2 years since getting FD.

Her best (retired) vet once told me her “feisty” personality was actually good, it would serve her well.
Turns out she was right and I try to remind myself of her words when I’m overwhelmed by all of what’s going on.
Sending you and Blue healing thoughts :bighug::bighug::bighug:
