I see on your SS that you tested and then fed...then tested again and shot. Is that correct?
The first reading would be your AMBG...(or +12 morning blood glucose) and the number at which you shot, the 230 would be your actual AMPS.
There is a jump in BGs after feeding anything due to a food spike so that is not so strange with the food onboard. Know what I mean?
Perhpas you can help fill in some info for us....
When was Stinky's diagnosis?
Did you start on Lantus...(I am not sure what you mean by the "regular" the first day.)
Does Stinky have any other medical issues or medications?
What food are you feeding and what is the schedule for feedings....
KETONES~ have you tested for them today? You had a trace showing the other day?
Pat+Raja+Shadow said::mrgreen: Is your name Sarajaye and your male kitty is Stinky?
You can go ahead and show the AMPS as 230 and notate that it was at +13 off to the side in the note column. Lantus likes consistency so we try to stick with the 12/12 shot times. If you could maybe go back to your first post today and edit the heading to read something like
"8/22 Stinky AMPS=230 new to Lantus...need help" that will get some attention to your thread or as we call it here, your "condo" for the day!
It would be good if some experts come along to look at your dose and all that while I will try to help with the housekeeping so that you are all organized in here, okay?
We post a new condo everyday and everyone can track our kitties' progress that way. It is a big happy family but we do have certain things to do so we don't get lost in the shuffle. More about that later...

I have another question - did you feed anything at the +1~123 or at the +3~82? And was there anything that didn't feel right at the 82, like too much blood, not enough blood, etc.?

STICKY: LANTUS & LEVEMIR - NEW TO THE GROUP? PLEASE READ..." http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopi ... =9&t=18139
You will find lots of useful information in all the starred posts...there is so much to learn in the beginning.
When we have more data on our kitties, we do shoot when the BGs are <180. We use the gravy from some HC cans that are on the janet & Binky list. We ask that everyone has cans of the High Carb foods on hand at all times. Keep them in a separate place or mark them so you won't feed accidentally...we use the LC for our meals and use the gravy in case our kitty goes into lower numbers.
At first it can be scary, but you will get used to the lower numbers. There is information on a Hypo kit that you should read and make sure you have those things on hand anyway. You will find that info in the stickies, okay? Taking BG tests during the day will add good data to your SS and you will soon see how Stinky is doing. Be sure to always get tests before you give insulin and definitely one test at least at night before you go to bed...any other tests during the cycle are great too!

Welsome to you and Stinky...these folks are amazing with their knowledge and support!

Libby and Lucy said:no, don't be panicked, the numbers often don't make sense at first. Stinky's body is adjusting to the insulin. He's actually doing really well, for this early in the game. He does seem to be a bit bouncy in his numbers, but that could be the newness of it all.
I'd like to see how the rest of this cycle plays out, and I'll also try to get some more eyes in here before you shoot tonight. My first impulse, though, is that this dose looks pretty good. He might outgrow it soon (by starting to get lower numbers) so please keep posting here and let us help you keep an eye on him.
